Hi just been doing some research for HRT when you have ME and came across this, just wondering if it's a one we use here and this is American. Thank sxx

From what I can see Activella contains Norethindrone acetate and Norethindrone is another name for Norethisterone. It seems N.acetate is used in the same way as Norethisterone which is the progestogen component of many of the tablet HRT types.

I can't see why this one would be suitable for ME particularly which I thought was primarily a muscle/fatigue syndrome - CFS, and therefore hormonal treatments may well help depending on the cause of yours? Personally looking at the symptoms I wouldn't want to use anything with norethisterone in it, but having said that since all conti HRTs have progestogens in them then this could add to fatigue due to the sedative effect I would have thought.

I can't remember now if you are on a conti HRT but with your condition I would opt for a cycle and if possible longer than 4 weeks so that I had less time with a progestogen ( similarly with fibromyalgia syndrome)

Have you ever seen a menopause specialist to discuss all of this as you do seem to have a hard time with all the different types?

Hi hurdity I'm at the doctors in the morning so been doing research, I just read a good review and got a bit exited I think!
As you no I've tried nearly everything, I've spent the last few days in bed with my ME and my hormones are so bad I feel so down.
I was seeing a gyno for years at hospital in Newcastle, as was on nuvelle, then I was sent to a menapause clinic and they were trying to help but I moved to the county two years ago, my doctor said she knows enough to help me so I just see her now.
Thanks for your help I'm starting to feel like a pain. Xx

I would heed Hurdity's warning about the progesterone in this HRT.  I'd still go for Femoston Sequi to start with if I were you - it has a kinder progesterone.

I've been reading all my note and your right, it's one I have not tried and has been mentioned a few times, I've got a copy of the info you gave me so will be showing the doctor. And asking for the femoston 2/10
I feel so ill today so I have been trying to find out info and I read someone who has ME said they felt amazing after feeling ill for years, I just got carried away, the last 16 years has been hell and I don't no how much more I can take.
I feel like I'm dragging a corpse around dAy after day.
I do feel a pain asking you all what about this? What about that? But I just want to feel half human xxx thank you for your help xxx

You are not a pain!!!!

That's what this forum is for - women to come on and ask things or tell each other things they think will help. We all answer from our own knowledge and experience - and sometimes it will help and suggestions will work for you and sometimes they won't - but if you don't ask you won't know!!!

We are all on here because we are going through or have been through menopause and want to help others and/or get support when we need it. No-one minds at all  - we were all newbies once - ie in terms of menopause and HRT!

Ah thank you Hurdity, I no you have given me so much help, I guess I'm not a normal case which is making it hard. I'm going to say try the femeston 2/10 and see what she says. I just want to feel like I can live some sort of life. Xxx
