We enjoyed our 4 years - alone, 2gether.

One year we got into and out of our car a LOT can't remember the amount but it was in double figures - that was C.mas Day  :-\

We go away for the C word every other year, so we can at least spend one year at home. When we go away we tend to stay in Brighton as teenager loves it there - plenty to do, mind you I like it there & it's equal distance between our parents & my grandmother.
Hubby & I have decided that we are definitely going abroad one year!

The garden centres are putting their Christmas stuff out. All the cardboard boxes are sat there waiting  :(

Sounds wonderful Teresa,I suppose I'm envious of people who have Christmas's with a wonderful family, all having fun etc, I never had this and I suppose that's why it means nothing to me,although I spoiled my daughter rotten when she was little, not with gifts as such but collecting twigs and making our own decorations, covering them with glitter, letting her put up the Xmas tree, all things I never got to do,I still feel sad that I didn't have any of that as a child, hence the reasons OH and I disappear over the whole festive season

All I remember about Xmas when I was Young was the whole family watching the tele, and laughing at Morecome and Wise, or who ever was on. We used to have a great time. Playing monopoly, or mouse trap. ect,..
I think that's why the pressure was on me when my kids were young, striving to give them the same, so they had good memories too, it wasn't about what we got, or money, it was the laughter and good fun we had....mind you, we all got on back then, it was when we grew up that problems started...🤷‍♀️

I don't remember many Christmases growing up, when I was in late teens/early 20's I felt lonely my siblings even though younger got better presents when I got a Winnie the Poo bear - heavens knows what my mother was thinking. I know it's the thought that counts but getting something that is for a child....

I gave up the 'thought that counts' when his brother/wife gave me something totally inappropriate.  Add to that my birthday gift being handed over with an aside from his brother "It was too heavy to post" - that damned it - I am worth more than postage!! and it went to the charity shop.  Bugga, I actually liked that one  :D

What annoyed me was that I had to share.  I don't think kids share naturally and if my sister asked to play with my presents/toys I had to give in.  She wouldn't share and I wanted a go with her spirograph ........ was told 'no'  :-\.  Some things I cannot forgive  :cuss:
