Of course you can Padine!  My uplifting track for today is . . . Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen.  Defy anyone to hear that without smiling!

Oh yes! What about the old song which goes:
“I got it in the hall
And the (dum-dee-dum-dee-dum)
Singing hey, do be do be
Da dee dum da dee dum”
Or something like that 🥳
Came out the same time as
I will survive (not a cheery one at all!)

Thank you CLKD! I was only 17 when that song came out and was still at a giggly stage about sex! Still makes me giggle 🤭 and I can't imagine “getting it in the bathroom or in the hall” anymore  :boobs: !

On a classical note, Song for Athene by John Tavener is so peaceful and deeply spiritual, makes me breathe deeply so as I don't make a sound (can't do a link thing but just google the title - it's really worth a quiet 5 mins.

Handel - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.  Not sure whether permissible here as not a song!

“Song to the Siren” by Jeff Buckley  is absolutely gorgeous.
For a wonderful 10am start to the day, Simon Mayo on Scala is the best ever. He just lifts my spirits and brings back so many happy memories of being a young mum!

Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin (not a song but was the Pot Black theme tune last century!)

Yep.  I learned to play it on the piano - I was quite good in those days  ;D

Apparently Queen have reworded one of their songs to suit the current strange times but I can't remember which  ::) and Cap Tom recorded You'll Never Walk Alone with Michael Ball recently.  He had never heard it  :o until introduced to the idea .

I don't know what I would choose right now.  Need to get my thinking cap on  :D it's going to be all 1930s/40s over the weekend?

"Wouldn't it be Luvverly?" from my favourite old musical "My fair Lady" (I sang this in a school concert in the 70s and had a blue and white gingham skirt on!)

Hi Padine

I love "hands up" too!! It is by Ottawan :) just found it on Youtube and it reminds me so much of a family holiday many years ago.

My favourite song that uplifts me is One Day Like This by Elbow...the strings totally bring a lump to my throat and goosebumps!! x

“I’m just a girl who can’t say no !!”
                    and
“Didn’t we have a wonderful time the day we went to Bagnor?” I played piano for a junior choir (of about 30 children) singing this one, their other item in the concert was “The Floral Dance” - I think Terry Wogan was at no.1 at the same time, happy memories  :D
