Aaah but its human nature to tell someone else that whatever they had done was bigger, more painful, took longer to heal, was the biggest of its kind etc etc - take no notice.Realistically most ops will have pain afterwards - you cant have an invasion on your body with no reaction it wouldn't be normal.Just ask for pain relief( if you need to)and relax and dream about all those weeks away seeing wonderful places in the sunshine.

Everybody's pain threshold is different.  If you need pain relief, don't be brave, ask for it.  You may find after the op that they give you a PCA.  I got one after my hysterectomy - great stuff!!!  You are then in control of how much pain relief you get and you can't over dose either.  I was sad to see mine go after my op.  I wasn't using it enough apparently, to warrant keeping it. They said this was a good thing!

Hi Ellie
I hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday.
You said you would like to take your IPad in with you. Do you have a phone with internet access? Or if not some hospitals you have a pull down TV where you can pay for the Internet.

Hi ellie,
Hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday.
It is only natural to be anxious. You are only human.
You'll be fine.
I think the worst bit is the time before, like anything.
Good Luck!
Let's us know how you do.

Good luck ellie.  As Trey says, think positive thoughts of how well you'll feel when it's over.

Just remember to give yourself enough time to recover after the op.  As we get older it takes a bit longer to feel completely well again, so don't rush things!

Thank you all for your wonderful support, it means a lot to me. I have to phone this morning to make sure there is a bed and I hope to go in and get it over with tomorrow. Sorry I haven't replied earlier but I have been very sick and my FIbro has been bad.    Hopefully I will be posting again later this week and it will all be over........X

Ellie, maybe this is a blessing in disguise, no bed, to give you time to feel a bit better before you go in.

I agree with Trey.  Timing can be everything.
