Indeed Mary. .

Yes clkd there are less woman in this hell hole that Vicky and I find ourselves in. Lucky them!

But I've had some great help and ideas over the years and, quite frankly, I doubt I'd still be here if I'd simply stuck with the NHS.

It is forums like this that give us hope. Other women's real experiences and advice.

I've had plenty private messages from woman who have been through hell. They dont all public ally post (can't think why?!) And the topic 'can peri really make me this ill' was enlightening.

Those that cant help, generally scroll past, or leave some nice supportive comments.  :-*

There is no need to continually post on someone's thread to tell them to seek medical advice. Of course they are doing that too. But it takes time. My specialist (paid for appointment) is in Jan. But I'm in a desperate state right now. Why should I not post, seek support and possibly some new ideas?

And, lordy, why on earth can Vicky not??? She's already been blocked from creating new posts. Enough harm done to this poor lass.

She simply asked a question!!!!

Hi

I want to give you a big hug.  As I am too suffering from the mental aspects of peri or menopause whichever stage I am in.

Your body has been through a lot with the hip operation and I honestly dont know if there is a link with your hormones.

Something doesn't sound right though with the symptoms you are describing. Your Gp sounds awful not understanding at all and you are clearly feeling these symptoms and it is affecting your life.

I would defo speak to another GP and sooner rather than later with how you are feeling.

It sounds like its the mental health side that is affecting you the worst?. I am on HRT and also anti ds, fluoxetine as the HRT doesn't appear to be helping my mental health. The crippling anxiety  :'(

Sorry I can't offer more help or advice but I know how draining the mental heath side can be.

Xxx
Thankyou that hug is much appreciated, I think today i woke up and just knew today was going to be messy, I feel very emotional and worried and anxious, I have been threw an awful lot in my years and id be here all day if I started writing it but I have contained everything and done fab all these years, ive brought up 5 wonderful sons and now I feel like my symptoms are getting on top of me and its making everything very in my face, I may just get some private bloods and get them done properly! I am coming back a man!! Lol

I mean, you might find one that does. But utrogestan is used to protect the endometrium as part of HRT in the NHS at uni supressing doses. End of.

What u and I are trying to do, is find suppression with tools most doctors don't use in this way.

You'll be much better asking the gynae.

That's why I came hack on CLKD's response. It's not helpful folk saying ask your doctor. You and I are here having to pay out a lot of money to ask doctors...and even then, we might not be helped.

There is nothing wrong with asking on this forum - someone may have been through it before. It's not like you can take mega doses of utrogestan without a doctor prescribing it anyway. But sometimes WE need to lead the doctor to let us try something!

Ask away Vicky!

Agreed, there is nothing wrong with asking on the forum, that's what it's for particularly as so many women on here have clueless doctors who have virtually zero knowledge of the menopause and HRT.

Time and time again we have women on here who are getting no help whatsoever from their GP, they often can't afford private menopause treatment and they are barely holding it together (many have had to give up work) so they come here for advice and I personally feel duty bound to offer it.

CLKD, when you suggest women seek help from a menopause specialist I hope you mean a private specialist because the NHS menopause clinics are oversubscribed with waiting lists of up to a year which is about as much good as a chocolate teapot for someone who is desperate.

Vicky, Utrogestan is not a good choice for suppressing FSH and LH.  Synthetic progesterone is far more potent.

Why did you stop the Cerazette?

How were your moods and anxiety during your menstruating years?  This mayB your ovaries kicking off as they drop naturally.  Awful symptoms for some ladies!

I have successfully used Bachs rescue remedy mouth spray and my GP has prescribed Propranolol which has eased my anxiety surges.  Also Valium as necessary has been a Life Saver though many GPs won't prescribe, worrying about addiction possibilities.  Better that than being continually anxious?

Is the anxiety worse at any particular time of day?  The early hours are bad for me, feeling better by evening: I'm a different person then and know not to say 'yes' to anything as by monring the anxiety will be back.
My periods couldnt of been better, honestly had bo problems, nice and light and came when they was meant yo, then I got sterilised 2014 and that started everything for me, I had periods so heavy I thought i was bleeding out, I had fibroids cysts and ademyosis, and spent 3 years being gaslit and fobbed off by gynaecology until I got an nternal scan and put straight on urgent list for hysterectomy, I have never taken medication abd was hoping not to have to but cant live like this! Honestly its hard being a woman's! Ive gave myself a pounding headache crying this morning lol

Thanks very much for your response Bombshell! Appreciate the HRT lowdown.

I think the tremors are a diff health condition, but not helped with the menopause mix up. Need to get the HRT sorted to determine what else is going on.

Thanks for your time, both of you xx

Sorry had to answer the front door!

Health anxiety can become problematic through these years.  I would be asking the surgery for an appt with a dedicated menopause clinic, as there are waiting lists. both in the NHS and private sector.

When did U last have a full blood count to include thyroid function and VitD levels?  R U aware that NHS GPs won't do the T tests if bloods are 'within normal limits', even when patients continue to complain of symptoms ; hopefully some1 will be along with more info on that but I do know that some have paid for the 'extra' tests.

You have been put into surgical menopause = no periods.  though the ovaries can pump out hormones which may cause weird symptoms!
Yes I think I definitely need to speak to someone, I feel my symptoms are very similar to b12 deficiency, but If I suggest anything to my drs they act like im trying to do their job, I just know i feel very off in myself, and then im like is this thyroid menopause or lacking something or all 3 lol

I would suggest by-passing the Gynaecologist and seeing a dedicated menopause specialist.

Vicky81 - there should be a Nurse Practitioner at your surgery if the GP isn't clear in what can be prescribed in the NHS - she should be able to listen, advise and direct. We are not medics on here and it does seem that not many Members have had the problems that U and CrispyChick are experiencing.

Have U read the information at the top in the pink line = Menopause, Treatments etc.?
