I think the same. People have opinions however I believe in a more gentle approach as I feel from Garnetts post she is already suffering. People have different approaches but nobody knows what is going on inside someones mind. A harsh comment can push someone over the edge although that may not be the posters intention.

People can be fragile and I appreciate posting on this forum will mean everyone can give an opinion but just be mindful that person must be in a desperate situation to post on here.

I hope you are ok Garnet. I think you have been extremely brave to post on here. Please look after yourselfxxxx

Hi again everyone x

Just to give an update and a reply to Crispychick.

After three months on Prostap and addback, I’ll be having a THBSO on 19th December. The Prostap eventually got rid of fluctuations which has helped a lot but I seem not to be able to tolerate ANY progestins at all, so the surgery will mean I can have oestrogen only HRT and avoid the Prostap as well!

The only symptom I’m left with now is face pain (it moves from one side to the other!) and a burning sensation in my tongue!

I’ve no idea if it’s hormonal but it does get me down a bit..naproxen and paracetamol take the edge off but it never goes away completely 😭

I suppose, after surgery, the “landscape” will be simpler and we can try to work out what’s causing it..

Any experiences and treatments for this kind of pain would be really welcome!!

@Crispychick - I don’t think Nick Panay’s private list is taking new patients at the moment but I do know you can choose a consultant at his private clinic, hormone health (https://hormonehealth.co.uk/team/prof-nick-panay).

It’s also possible to be referred to the NHS clinic that he heads up at Chelsea and Westminster but I think there is a lot of triaging before a consultant is involved there, from what I can gather.

Have you considered Paul Briggs at Liverpool Women’s hospital? xx

It isn't anything you have done or not done, it is because your urogenital tissues are starved of estrogen and androgens.

A 25 year old can hike up and down Kilimanjaro with a tent on her back and not get a sore fanny.

It's hormonal. If I were in that much discomfort I wouldn't wait for a prescription I'd go to boots and buy some. It probably costs less than hyaluronic acid.

I check testosterone, estradiol, FAI and FSH yearly.

I am in Zoely for my COCP otherwise there would be no point checking estradiol if I were on an ethinylestradiol based COCP.

My targets are to maintain:
Testosterone in upper quartile of female healthy range.
FAI around 5
Estradiol > 400 pmol/L
FSH < 7 IU.

The DHEA hasn't changed my estradiol, however I am not looking for it to do this as I have adequate estradiol from the Zoely plus the small amount that suppressed premenopausal ovaries secrete.

I have no concerns about hormone sensitive cancers as I am breast free (non-carrier within BRCA2 family, risk reducing mastectomies prior to availability of genetic testing) and have been on continuous combined pill for 16 years so extremely low risk of endometrial cancer.

I do not believe gonadal steroids "cause" cancer, otherwise young women would all be riddled, but that they can hasten the growth of malignancies already present, which in many cases facilitate detection prior to metastasis, partially explaining the better survival rates of women developing breast cancer whilst on HRT.

Garnet hasn't posted since the 29th November and she has not logged on since the 4th.

I really don't think this conversation is helping her at all.  Perhaps just leave it to her now as I think the thread itself is now upsetting.

I wasn't suggesting  she go to the police. I was making sure people know that his behaviour is more that unacceptable, it is criminal. Some people seem to think it is a misunderstanding or miscommunication. No one should feel obliged to suffer an unhealthy relationship . I am shocked anyone would be enabling such toxic behaviour.

While I agree that replies should be gentle, supportive and balanced - from the information that Garnet has provided this behaviour is abuse. If Garnet were to make a statement to the police there would be an investigation into controlling and coercive behaviour.

This type of behaviour is not OK and it should never be excused or minimised
