Title: New Laws for travelling to Europe
Post by: CLKD on January 12, 2021, 09:35:53 AM
A Dutch TV network has filmed border officials confiscating ham sandwiches and other foods from drivers arriving in the Netherlands from the UK, under post-Brexit rules.

The officials were shown explaining import regulations imposed since the UK formalised its separation from the EU.

Under EU rules, travellers from outside the bloc are banned from bringing in meat and dairy products.

The rules appeared to bemuse one driver.

"Since Brexit, you are no longer allowed to bring certain foods to Europe, like meat, fruit, vegetables, fish, that kind of stuff," a Dutch border official told the driver in footage broadcast by TV network NPO 1.

Be aware that you can't take dairy/meat products abroad, this may well affect pet food even dried if they contain meat.

Insurance paper work has changed too.

Yep. I'm surprised that lorry drivers weren't aware  ::) there's been enough on the TV and in the media about 'being prepared'.

Nothing of the sort.  These are 3rd country rules which apply to us now.

Brexit means Brexit, remember.  ::)

It's all about export and import and if the countries see visitors taking in sandwiches etc., they won't be getting any taxes  :-\.

This applies to dairy products as well, I am a recovering anorexic so eat what I fancy when I have to - that'll be me staying at home for holidays then  :D.  The fact that lorry drivers are transporting goods 4 everyone's benefit seems to have gone past the 'powers that be'  >:(.

For years it's been illegal to bring meat products in from Africa etc. to prevent F&M etc., not that I fancy much of what appears in Customs when it's been discovered  :-X

Did I mention pet food when taking dogs abroad ............
