Hi Guys
I have just joined. I am 49 and peri menapausal, I have not had a period since June and before that I only had 1 in a year.  My symptoms at the moment are night sweats, external vaginal itching (it's driving me crazy) I think so far I am doing OK but any advice is welcome

Hello there, lots of articles on here about vaginal itching (VA) and ways to help it. Lucky you that you periods are ending. I feel that I bleed more days than I am not. Let us know how you get on x

Even if you decide so you don't want hrt you should get treatment for VA, it will only get worse.

Hi!  Do read our threads about vaginal atrophy and bladder issues.  Make notes  ;)

:welcomemm: the idea is to replace any loss of oestrogen directly into the vaginal area.  VA mimics repeated urine-type infections really well.  Either 'vagifem' or 'ovestin' eases symptoms.  Each is inserted every night for 2-3 weeks and then as necessary though some find that they need 'vagifem' nightly or every 3/4th night and 6/7th.  It's a bit Trial and Error.

Have a look-C at the 'sylc' and 'yes' threads too.  Some ladies find that using either can help along side the HRT.
