Title: hystersocopy and biopsy bleeding - is this normal?

Hi Ladies,

i had a hystersocopy and a biopsy on the 14th, and had a little bleeding/ spotting on the day and the day after, which seemed to tale off a bit. I seem to be having a bit more bleeding last nigh and today, which is heavier. I was very poorly after the general anesthetic, so I cannot remember anything they said to me. I do not know what is normal and roughly how long I should be bleeding and how heavy.

I am sorry you were poorly after the GA. I had a hysteroscopy about 6 weeks ago with a GA.  The nurse said I could have bleeding on and off for a month with varying light and heavy bleeding. I was lucky that but I only had one day of bleeding. It sounds like what are experiencing is normal judging from what the nurse said.

I had one on Wednesday under GA & was told could bleed for 2+ weeks, have you over done it ?

Thanks Ladies for replying,

 I have rested and not done much since the op. I am still bleeding bright red blood ( but not loads) and have developed aching round the bladder/ womb area like a period pain today. I hope that will go, as I did not have it when I left the hospital. I will take some pain killers tonight .If it does not stop I will call the GP tomorrow. Who would be a woman  ::).

Hi there

Same thing happened to me after hysteroscopy biopsy. I thought the bleeding was going to stop After a day or 2 and then it started heavier. I was getting a little worried then about 8 days after the op it stopped properly.

I have watery discharge now mixed with blood ( sorry if TMI)- making me sore . Wish i had never had it done now. My health anxiety has hit the roof.  Gosh 8 weeks - I have a bleed due in a week with my HRT. I am hoping it sorts itself out then. I feel like my bits have been sand papered, and I was doing so well before the proceedure - I had got my V back on track after 2 years of hell.

I also had a hysteroscopy and D&C for endometrial hyperplasia (turned out to be polyps) last week. I bled right after the procedure but hardly anything the first few days after.  This week I am passing small clots (sorry) and passing light pink spotting. I was told this was normal and could last a little while. I'm not cramping at all. 
I had to take a few days myself to get over the effects of the anesthesia, it really messes you up.

I hope you are feeling OK, yes the Anesthetic does mess you up!

Looks like they are catching up on the Hysteroscopys then  :o

I have very watery discharge today, so much so that I am changing my pad every couple of hours- I don't think that is right some how. The bleeding is mixed in with the water. I have called the gynae unit and hope someone will contact me soon. I hope it is not an infection.

Pepperminty-   :) Thanks, I'm pretty much back to normal. It took longer than my doctor said it would. ::)

Hope you get this sorted out. Let us know what the doctor says. :)

I am glad you are feeling better. The nurse told me that if the discharge did not stop by Monday to call my GP and the specialist unit will see me same day or next day ( amazing for the NHS). So that is a relief. I am still quiet poorly unfortunately, and have been advised to take it easy and rest.

I think I may be low on iron, but just a guess, and am awaiting blood tests - but it  will take 2 weeks as they have run out of something they need to do them!

It will end soon, I guess women recover at different rates. :)  I felt so tired for 3 days after. I made sure I ate properly and took my multivitamin.  Make sure you drink lots of water, I had an issue with a slow bowel for a day and it was very painful.  One week post-op and I am still having a wee amount of discharge, just old blood really. If it doesn't stop within the next few days, I will ask the doctor's office.

Do rest up, keep your chin up and keep us posted on the blood work! :)

Are yes the bowel issues - not fun is it? I am normally a quick recoverer, so beats me why I am not feeling better. I am taking all the right things and I have a good diet. Still chucking out  a lot of watery stuff, deep joy. Thank you again for the kind support. I will post when I get more news and will continue to rest thanks.
