Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations re face creams? So many out there & quite pricey at that. The skin on my face is reasonably good (aged 42yrs), not particularly dry, not particularly oily either. Over the last few years age spots appearing, would like something light, smells nice and to keep me youthful looking - not asking for much!!! Any ideas? x

I use Boots no 7 instant Radiance,it's very light but gives a nice dewy look, even though covering well
I think they have changed the name of it, but still the same foundation
-
Don't know how much you want to spend foxy but Est?e Lauder is brilliant,I'm 56 & people are always saying what good skin I have, for such an old battle axe ;D
-
Oofle dust - I can't think of anything else to prevent aging skin >:(
Except to turn the clock back and never expose your face to the sun. Too late for me so I might as well sit outside in the sun 8)
-
Oofle dust ........ that's a phrase from the past :D
No soap on the face, Grannies washed with rain water collected in a barrel and I think 1 used Ponds face cream twice a day. As well as 4711 behind the ears.
I find that 'vaseline' hand cream [the yellow one] as good as anything or a good quality sun tan lotion at this time of year. Then after sun to sooth. I don't spend much time in front of the mirror to see if I have wrinkles :-\
Keeping hydrated internally is important too.

I use L?Or?al, or Vichy now.
( I think they?re all the bloody same tbh! ) 😆

Thanks ladies. I've always used Olay (my mum used it) did have a spell where I used no7 serum and i liked it. Otherwise I find it all very confusing with all the promises they make and medical/dermatalogical sounding phrases to make you buy them! Never heard of oofle dust, but I have never used anything other than water to wash my face. Limited exposure to the sun, living in Scotland & only been on three foreign holidays in my life. Probably diet etc alot to do with looking after your skin and ageing. x
-
Hahaha so cold in Scotland in winter foxy,my face looked permanently botoxed ;D

Look at the small print on the adverts.? '85% of the 29 ladies questioned' ::) not a representative of the female population then.
Most start their ingredients with 'aqua' which really is a clue ;-)
-
I ALWAYS look at those figures too clkd, there's a toothpaste one which has 49 percent of 500 dentists, that's not great is it :-\
-
Our Dentist hates those adverts because he says that they are simply not true. "Posed by models" as dentists are not allowed to recommend in such a way.
-
You've never heard of Oofle dust?? Am I horribly old or did you miss out on childhood (suspect the former :(). Do you remember Sooty and Sweep? Offle dust is the magic powder Sooty used. Seems to work every time :)
-
yes remember sooty & sweep in fact the corbetts are related to my mum!! But don't remember the oofle dust!! ;D ;D
-
Apparently I remember Sooty and Sweep and 'offle dust' but not the 2 together ;D and nope, you're not horribly old ........
-
Foxy!!! Stop showing off ;D
-
;D ;D!! Thanks Diane200 that's why I asked as I know there is alot of rubbish out there!! The only make up I wear is eye shadow/mascara & I use simple wipes to remove that. x
-
Exactly what Diane said, morning and night I cleanse ,tone, then moisturise, also use an exfoliating wash in the mornings,I've never believed the claims of ANY of these companies,I mean they use Jane Fonda whose about 104 saying oh I look like this because of L?Oreal yeah, that and about 50 face lifts honey but I do believe some cream, not off the shelf ones, are great for deep moisturising, I also use the Est?e Lauder night serum,it really does help with giving your skin a glow
-
I like different moisturisers for summer and winter ::) I like lighter gel type in the summer and a creamy type in the winter, I dont have one I always use, I love trying different brands. My family know I like nice skincare so they buy me sets for Christmas and birthdays.
Im currently using No7 water surge gel type moisturuser, its nice and light in the warmer weather :)

Foxylady, I am sorry i thought you meant foundation cream, [Boots no 7] but i like Aldis Caviar day and night cream, best of the cheapest i have found [about ?6 each]
Sometimes i treat myself to a Judith Williams retinol day and night cream, plus cleansing mousse, [only when they are on special offer

I have been using New Dawn Organics light cream from eBay for years, which only contains natural ingredients. It's a small, family business, which I'm glad to help support in my small way. After reading about all the toxins in chemical products, which do your skin and health no favours, I decided I didn't want to absorb all those nasties, so I switched to all natural toiletries. I have oily skin and the New Dawn light cream is great, and only costs ?3 for 25ml including postage. It sinks in quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and comfortable. They do a large range using different essential oils, and one without essential oils. The lemongrass and rose geranium ones smell wonderful, but I usually get patchouli as that's good for mature skin. They also make a rich cream for dry skin. I use their bar soap or liquid soap for washing my face which are also lovely, and much gentler than chemical ones. I'm never going back to the stuff I used to use, I really hope their business never folds.

caviar on the face :o :sick02: ;D
-
Whatever floats your boat ;D
-
It wouldn't be caviar ........ to salty :-X
-
Jaycee, I have a box of Caviar night cream from Aldi in the cupboard, bought a while back but still in the box & plastic wrapper! Will use it up first before I buy anything else. That sounds interesting Harmony, I will have a wee browse and see what I fancy.
-
Have you seen the face cream in H&B? Slug slime :o
-
I have a ready supply of slugs if anyone would like to try 😁 (I'm not volunteering!)
-
🤮🤮🤮🤮😂🤣😆
-
 after the overnight rain there'll be plenty of slugs :o
I have spots >:(
-
Stick a slug on one clkd, you?ll notice an improvement ;D ;D
-
You cut it and hold it on my skin then :-X - would rather suck lemons ;D
Usually it's a large, black hair which when pulled leaves an itchy area which I try to sort :-\. I probably need Clerasil again ::)
-
No thanks to the slug slime, ugh!!
