Think why you went to the GP and had the blood tests.  Low VitD can be sorted by capsules.

Thank you for replying Sparkle, my liver is a mystery to me too.
I don't drink alcohol so know it's nothing to do with that.

Best wishes

Hello Dede,

I was about to ask the same question, sparkle  :)

If by 'low liver function tests' you mean low albumin, the most common causes are, according to Medscape: 'Hypoalbuminemia can result from decreased albumin production, defective synthesis because of hepatocyte damage, deficient intake of amino acids, increased losses of albumin via GI or renal processes, and, most commonly, acute or chronic inflammation.'

Decreased production is mainly from cirrhosis, liver damage (have you been tested for ALT and AST?), malnutrition due to low protein intake or low absorption in the gut (do you have any digestive disorders?), chronic renal disease (have you had your urine tested for proteinuria?), and acute or chronic inflammation, the latter can be hidden as bacterial overgrowth or IBD. Hypothyroidism is also a related condition and sometimes it exists albeit normal range tests results.

Do you have any symptoms?

Conolly X

I've got irritated nerve route in my shoulder Sparkle, had it for a while now,
very painful. Physiotherapist sent me for tests......MRI scan and blood tests.

Thyroid, vitamin B and inflamitaries ok but liver function and vitamin D low.

I couldn't cope with the side effects of strong pain  kiilers so relied on
paracetemol and accupunture.

Waiting for results of MRI scan now

Dede how much paracetomol are you taking?

I wondered if it could be the paracetemol !! My dr gave me childrens paracetemol to
take in liquid form, Im not good at taking tablets. I've never gone over the started
amount and generally speaking havn't taken the full amount allowed.

I checked with my dr last month if it was still OK.......

A bit worried now !!!

Dede,

High doses of paracetamol are linked to liver damage, which could lead to low albumin levels, but I don't think children's paracetamol would be enough to cause it, unless you are taking loads of it.

Maybe the irritated nerve root in your shoulder is causing a chronic inflammation process. Unless other tests results are interpreted along with the ones you've mentioned, there's no need to be alarmed.

If you've not gone over the dose there is absolutely no need to worry about the paracetomol. Just checking.

Frozen shoulder is very common at a 'certain' age due to a drop of oestrogen making muscles lax = aches and pains.  Physiotherapy is important ASAP with exercises to do at home.

Maybe speak to a local Pharmacist about your worries Dede?

Thank you all

Hopefully when I get the results of my mri scan and my shoulder starts
to repair itself I can reduce the pain relief even more.
Trying not to worry about  drs visit  on Monday...My health anxiety will be sky high !!

Make a list to take with you.  A frozen shoulder takes 2 years to heal - but one has to be absolutely still  ::) which is impossible because the body breathes for starters then if we sneeze or shiver ....... did you have exercises to do at home, my Mum had to lean forwards from the waist and 'stir a pudding' so that the affected arm hung downwards, therefore taking the weight off the shoulder.

My PBC got diagnosed by a abnormal liver function test.
GP referred me off to Gastroenterologist.
Sure enough, diagnosis was PBC....
Had it now for about 14 years, it's being managed, on a tablet called ursodeoxychloric acid.
They want me to try trial drugs, but tbh, I'm too scared, so I told them maybe, when I get this menopause stuff sorted......at this rate though, it'll never be sorted!

I'm sure your test is nothing to worry about, my OH has had tests like that, but then the next one was fine, it's also something to do with which lab they use, every lab is different.
Try not to worry.....xx

PBC being what ? meno-brain here  :D

No MRIs when my Mum and MinL were diagnosed, GP knew exactly by the lack of movement.  The test was to ask ladies in particular to reach up to open a cupboard so that the point of pain would show frozen shoulder.  My Mum has restriction on one side so is unable to lift the arm outwards or reach to a cupboard.

Primary Billary Cholangitis.
It's where the bile ducts get blocked, which eventually cause cirrhosis.
More women than men suffer from it, and years ago, it was the main reason people had to have a liver transplant. I think it's changed now, by that I mean, because of the ursodeoxychloric acid medicine and this new drug they're just trialling., whereas, years ago they probably didn't have any treatments for it.
It's not caused by booze, In fact , they don't know why it happens, but they did say, maybe one of my parents MAY have had it, but sadly, couldn't get them tested as they'd already past on.....😢

Tnx.  Yes, it's more common that people realise.  My Maternal Gran died of bile duct cancer ....... she suddenly sicked up green bile, gone 3 weeks later  :'(  :-\

Many thanks to everyone for your replies, it was much appreciated.

My liver function is all back to normal now. It was the paracetemol
that was causing the problem.

My dr has suggested  Neurontin 100mg for nerve route pain in my shoulder
and physoptherapy . Not sure what to do about the neurontin !!
Any advice, much appreciated .

As well as being an epileptic drug it is used widely for nerve pain so this is probably why your GP has suggested it Dede

Reminds me: when we visited Scotland with my dog in 1991 I remember it as raining on alternate days and DH remembers it raining every day  ;D.  I think we were on the same holiday  :D
