Title: My Chin! and nose hairs !!!
Post by: CLKD on December 19, 2008, 12:00:33 PM
 >:( - I had a look at the left side of my chin this morning and it looks like it's been peppered with an air-rifle, I can see under the skin lots of hairs waiting to be born ........ so I've been 'at them'  :o like I would do a spot .......... I found several blonde ones too as I was pulling with the tweezers .......... must put some cream on now or Hubby will tell me off again for  " ferreting around my chin "  :-X

I always seem to get the hairs on my right side only, they are always dark and and seem to spring up overnight.. Flipping awful having to regularly pluck...

I've been plucking for years  ::)

When I was in hospital having my daughter,I forgot to pack my tweezers, and panicked that I'd look like one of ZZ Top by the time I was discharged  :o

I've considered eloctrolysis, but decided I can deal witht he prob manually on a daily basis LOL

I started sprouting chin hairs after my daughter was born  :(. Sometimes I find an especially long one that escaped the trimming, and cringe at the thought of how many people noticed it before I did  ::)

I went prematurely grey and about once a week I bleach my eyebrows to make them receptive to the tint then colour them

Playing idly with my chin today while at MIL's house I came across a couple of rogue hairs, long enough to be noticeable. How come they grow SO quickly??!?!

My nipple hairs are gradually spreading out onto the breast! I find that they are easy to tweezer after a bath. There is a whole forum dedicated to men who love nipple hairs  :-X

The chin hairs have slowed down a little. JFF - do you have to have a lot of electrolysis before the hairs die off? I have to tweezer mine every other day now and it is getting to be a pain.

I have never had electrolysis to remove hairs so I'm not sure how many sessions it would take. I use it to remove thread veins and several sessions are needed but hair follicles might be different.

I keep a pair of tweezers in the car.(Apart from my other 3 pairs!) The light coming through the sunroof highlights ones that escape in the house. Altho I'm blonde I'm getting black chin hairs  >:( I hate the way you have to put up with the black stubble  until you can grab them. And don't the roots go down a long way?
Title: Re: My Chin!

I'm always surprised at how long each hair is - like there's *that* much room in my chin below the surface?   Those tiny black 'spots' where the next hair lurkes annoy me intensely which is why I excavate to get at 'em.  Good Light certainly makes a difference in how soon I can grab 'em  ::)

Kind of related, well its about chins/neck. The pelican chin thing. That bulge under chin, like a pelican full of fish. Can that ever be exercised back? Surely surgery needed. I hate looking sideways in the mirror at my profile, and notice it horrendously in photos.  I am nearly 13st and 5ft 6. A bit of weight loss wouldnt go amiss, bit would my under chin tighten up??
Title: Re: My Chin!

Unlikely.  My under chin flab is like my Mum's was ........ 'double chin' we called it  ::) ........ I try to stretch my head upwards as often as I remember to do so which helps a bit ..........

I found a huge hair when doing the above this morning so it's out .... how Hubby can't see those I don't know  >:(

Do we tell our OHs about nose and ear hair ?  I have been forced to in the past. I find it almost impossible to have a sensible conversation with someone with nose hair. I find my gaze wandering towards the nose and thinking, I could have that out in a tick if he would let me get my tweezers  ;D ;D
Ear hair also annoys me. Why cant they see it ?

I dont want my OH hogging the bathroom for hours, but a little more time looking in a mirror would be good  ;)

I have got a bristle patch now on the side of my chin - I have to pluck every morning. It is getting worrying. Yesterday I sat at the traffic lights on the way to work and remembered that I had FORGOTTEN my chin!!!! Didn't have any tweezers either and spent the whole day, in class, with my hair sort of draped across that side of my chin. The little darlings in my class are so lacking in social skills. Conversation goes "Why have you got a manface Miss"  :o :o :o

I too got fed up with facial hair, mainly under my nose but also down the side of my face. It is only light & fluffy but it made me feel bad about myself  ???.
Anyway about 2 months ago I went into our local village chemist & bought some Nair hair remover. It is a facial brush on, I was very nervous the first time I used it but it was ok. It stings a little bit but soon wears off. I use it about every 2 - 3 weeks & you don't need too much of it.

Its a good job he was clean shaven cos I might not have said yes! ::)

The thing is if someone said that to me now I'd believe them and I'd be running for the nearest razor AND they could also include my beard in with that!!!  :(

Thank heavens the tweezers were invented!  :)

I just get legs and oxters waxed viv, no need to do bikini line as pubes are getting that sparce you might already think I had them waxed .  If you get someone who knows what they are doing it does not hurt that much (okay, it hurts like hell sometimes but is soon forgotten, lol) and it lasts a lot longer than shaving, tweeking and all those other things we try and apparantely, the more you do it, the less they grow back, so, by the time I am 60years old could be a hairless wonder

What do you do with the bristly ones that sprout out of moles  :o

I still pluck but then wonder if I should or not. I have a little mole at the side of my mouth. In days gone by they were called beauty spots  ::) and if I left them to sprout then I could probably put them in a pony tail in a few months. They are not soft but spiky and grow straight out.

I started sprouting 'whiskers' not long after my daughter was born... about 11 years ago. Sometimes I forget about them, and suddenly feel them, long and whisker-y, usually when I'm on an evening out and at my most self conscious! I swear I could plait beads into them and make them a feature!!!  :o

Girls! Girls! Girls!

STOP! STOP! STOP! The plucking.............that is why they feel so bristly and hard........just like a mans chin!

Get them waxed.........it will eventually slow down the growth and also they will feel much finer!  Ok.........you will feel it, but to be honest plucking them is much more painful than waxing!

Give it a try girls...........please..........and stop putting you through this torture  ???

Don't they have to grow a certain length before you can have them waxed? How long does it work for? I get fed up with doing mine every morning.

I have mine waxed every 5 weeks, it's very quick and effective. I occassionally pluck 1 or 2 tough ones out in between waxes. i have my eyebrows done at the same time. It's a bit red for an hour or so after waxing, but I use a good after-soother.

Five weeks? Mine would be down to my chest by then! :o
Title: Re: My Chin!
Post by: cutey1 on November 19, 2011, 03:58:27 PM
the first initial growth would really need to be 4-5 weeks of growth (but saying that some people only wait 3), you need this length for the wax to adhere to the hair!

But as I said in my previous posts, they will grow back finer and not so harsh!  It is well worth it - and..........because you personally get paranoid about the hairs, others do not see what you do!

I have lots of ladies that have chin, lip & brow waxing and swear they will never wax again!

A plus side is that the hairs after a while do become very patchy and can stop growing!

Believe me..........I do it for a living  ;)

My chin hairs are now growing back blonde so not so easy to see, occasionally they are tuffer but still tweeze out with a satisfying sensation  :o -  been away from the tweezers for 3 days so off to find the mirror  :P

I work with primary children - believe me it is not paranoia as their eyesight is eagle sharp and they are quick to point out the hairy chin  ;D  I know it would be worth it in the end but there is no way I could go about my job with five weeks of bristles!! Maybe when I retire! I did find that when I was off HRT for that six months the hairs stopped growing.

I know what you mean Taz.
I have a mole on my chin with a hair growing out of it.
I work with children and they're also quick to point it out if I haven't plucked it,which maybe, I shouldn't be doing anyway  :-\

You can have them done more often than every 5 weeks if you need to, Taz, and if you can afford to. I've been having mine done  for a long time now, and they are much weaker than they used to be. I'm not on HRT, so that may make a difference too! Mine are black.

:)  I had to move and leave my dearest friends behind a number of years ago; have trust issues from years of horrible stuff so have a slightly difficult time making new friendships, and have recently become unemployed so breakfasts and after-work get-togethers with female coworkers has dwindled so don't have anyone really to talk to about "female issues."

So.....I come on here and find threads like this one and it just makes me feel so.....so.....normal!

As long as you make sure you have just had a shower or a bath then it is fine to use tweezers just as you would on the chin. It doesn't hurt if the skin is still warm from the bath/shower. I have to do mine every couple of days. Apparently it is quite normal but it sure doesn't feel like it is!

Ladies............waxing is really not as bad as you think, and it feels so lovely and looks so neat too!

If you find a very good therapist, she will be very good and gentle (as she can be) with you.  As long as the skin is pulled very taught and you work with the therapist it is so quick  ;)

I have been having waxing for 16 yrs now and at the moment I have had to resort to shaving my lady parts, as since I have moved area I cannot find a salon or therapist that offers the waxing system that I use on my clients..............I am gutted!

Take the plunge and have a go, you may well be truly surprised!

Nipple hairs, I always pull mine out when I am in the bath - I don't get that many to be honest, but still............they make you feel awful when you see them!

The joys of getting older girls...........wonderful............NOT  :(

I don't understand the not tweezering of nipple hairs - what are we supposed to do - grow a tarzan-like hairy chest  ;D

Nipple hairs are ok to be tweezered. I wonder if there is some confusion here as the term "nipple hair" usually means hair on the areola and not sprouting out from the end of the nipple itself so by plucking them the nipple doesn't bleed. I don't think the actual nipple would have any hair follicles.  :-\

I have found this on a Men's forum.....

I don't think I've ever encounted a woman with hairy nipples, or even with any hairiness anywhere in the chest area, but if I did, it would more likely turn me on than turn me off.

I was surprised to find out about 3 or 4 years ago that women even grew hair there, when an acquaintance of mine mentioned to me that she had to shave there every couple of months because a fine layer of hair would sprout. She was just as surprised to learn that I didn't know about it, saying that many women have hair growing there.

All told, I find it kind of erotic myself."

I absolutely loathe my hair/body hair since meno - got the full works going on.

It's a full time job keeping all of it under control - hairy toes, ugh, hairy ankles, ugh (ankles also morphing into "cankles" now, thickening up), shockingly my OH made a joke about my hairy ankles which sent me reeling - nip hairs that often are ingrowing, black hairs on chin (often they suddenly grow overnight) and some on upper lip BUT conversely - thanks so much for this Mother Nature - sparse patchy pubic hair that annoyingly now grows down the bikini line much further, sparse eyebrows and lashes, hair loss on top of head and at sides.  Have had thyroid checked, results "normal". hmmm.

All this must be down to hormone imbalance and circulating DHT, don't get it though as my T levels are practically zero.

Gradually bit by bit, the places where you don't want hair, it appears - and vice versa.

Maybe would have expected some of this in late 60s, but not at 50.

Will never get over the shock of what Mother Nature can do - added to the long list of meno symptoms, the total hair change really p's me off.  None of this cr'p gets better with time.

I've bought a 15 x magnifying mirror to use when plucking chin, lip.  Quite scary looking in it though!

This is such a great thread  :)

I got my first chin hair at 30 (which was speedily plucked out) but it would only re-appear every few months. But my 40s have been a nightmare - masses of dark, stiff hairs sprouting up so regularly that plucking has become almost a daily chore. I do get a bizarre sense of satisfaction when I manage to grab 'em all though  ;D

I've tried hair removal creams but find that I have a hair-free chin only for a couple of days before the little blighters start coming up again. My magnifying mirror and tweezers are definitely my friends  :)

I leave the fine downy hair as it only shows up in the magnifying side of the shaving mirror in the bathroom. The ****ly whiskers CLKD, you need to let them grow at least 2mm so you have something to grip and they come out satisfactorily. If you try to get them as soon as you feel the little point you will fail and just get a sore chin like squeezing a spot.

then you are gripping too near the end, i used to do that. Grip at skin level and don't put too much pressure or the tweezers will 'cut' them off. Took me ages to get the knack.

Mu  hubby is a clockmaker, for the tiny parts of the finer movements he has swiss made tweezers at over 30 quid a throw (per pair) when he's had enough of them, IE they wont pick up pins finer than a hair..... I nick 'em.... they do me fine.... (I've got a pair of edge to edge cutters that I nicked for trimming the cats claws too) ;D

I get my eyebrows, top lip and chin threaded every 3 weeks and use tweezers to keep obvious hairs at bay in between appts.

Tweezers go blunt eventually. I had a fantastic pair from Boots - very cheap.  Wish I'd bought several of them as when I tried to replace them the new ones were rubbish.   >:(

It IS but threading is less painful than plucking.

I dont know how you would find one CLKD.  We have lots here as it is an asian "art", stalls set up in shopping centres, markets etc.  Where is your closest multicultural town?  There's even one in Debenhams but she's much pricier than the ones on the stalls.

Hi ladies. I have the dreaded chin hair. After plucking they too have become stiff. I have a coupe of questions about waxing i hope someone can shed some light on this before i have a go at waxing. Firstly, will i need some industrial wax for the stiff ones. The fear is i get rid of all the peachy fuzzy hair so my chin is bald with a load of stiff hairs left there taunting me. Secondly, as i have mentioned peachy fuzzy fine hair, if i wax my chin, where do i stop??? Dont want a shiny bald chin with 20 odd stiff hairs and the rest of my face with my peach fuzz that will just highlight the fact i've removed it.. Any thoughts??? :)

I have an aunt who has no children and she made me promise I'll pluck her chin hairs when she's too old to do it herself ;D

I've had chin hairs since my early 20's, always had messed up hormones so I guess that was the reason. Had years of electrolysis, then more years of laser (along with my daughter who was cursed with lots of dark hairs in her teens, poor thing) and now I've finally just gone back to snipping them off with scissors.  I hardly notice them anymore because most of them are now sprouting below my chin, almost on my neck. When I do sometimes tip my head up in the mirror I'm shocked at how long some of them have gotten!

Instead of plucking BJ. They also thread your top lip if it's hairy.

Ooe-er CLKD - most days?. Poor you! I think I must be very lucky, as I have a single dark hair that grows very slowly about an inch below my lower lip that I keep an eye on and have to pull once a month or so, + a few on a small mole near my chin (ditto) and a few lip hairs at the corners (probably once a week I check these).

It's one of my biggest dreads is getting a hairy chin and not noticing - I do look in a magnifying mirror with my glasses on and try to peer at different angles and in different lights!

I don't understand threading - whenever I have my eyebrows done they always ask this -  threading or waxing - and can't imagine the former. Must be quite s skill. My fringe generally covers them pretty well anyway!

CKLD do you find they are bad in one area for a couple of years and then suddenly head off somewhere else, its righ side of my chin too where there are about 5 and 2 on left side of chin but I have to check everywhere in case they spring up unexpectadly

Those that are quicker growing are on one side where I can see them in the mirror for ease of removal.  Others on the other side appear sparingly.  Then there are those on the side of my face in the fine downy hair on the cheeks  ::)

It surprised me how long some of them are when they eventually give way  :D

Hey, have you tried the tweezy? It's a metal coil with plastic handles, which you roll between your fingers. I use it for my upper lip and other facial bits and bobs. It like threading, but easier, and you don't have to go to a salon.

The only method which works for me without causing intense irritation to the skin is gently shaving my chin with a good quality disposable gentle lady razor like Gillette's Venus ( formerly Agilite) which has Aloe Vera.

I'm happy and have far fewer skin erruptions than with all the other methods I have tried.

No side effects and has come down in price a lot since I had it.  No idea how much for face as I have no problems there, but it is Diego worth looking at.

I decided to have a go at the peach fuzz at the sides of my face with, um...some gaffer tape (I know)...well it kinda worked, no rash and didn't make my face totally bald and shiny...

still probably not to be recommended, maybe I should find a hobby for my spare time  ;D :o

What a great thread! I just joined and I've been reading around and stumbled on this looking for information on hirsutism. It sure makes me feel more normal.
;D

Anyway I've noticed my facial hair lessening since I've switched from oral oestradiol pills to oestrogel. I've had a few hairs around my nipples since I was a teenager so I'm used to those. I also have toe hair and thinning pubic hair which seems to be getting thicker after switching to the gel a few months ago. I've been kinda interested in facial hair for a few years and preventing an excess of it as I age if possible.

There has to be a reason for it but so far I can't find anything definitive. I'm afraid at this point if I really want to know the cause I'd have to go back to college and get a PhD to figure it out! I even picked the brain of a trans woman and she wasn't sure either!

So this is my first post and I'm outting myself right away as being obsessed with facial hair.

I used to have several long dark hairs appearing underneath my chin which I attacked with the tweezers. My friend and colleague and I made a pact that we were to let each other know if we noticed them. However as we both need reading glasses this wasn't too successful. In fact there was many a morning where we would walk into work and say " call yourself a friend didn't you see that 3 foot long black hair sprouting from my face"
Well I think all that tweezing has paid off and they have given up.
My face is covered with a lot of fair downy hair which I must have had all my life as I can remember my mam stroking my face and saying "You are like a little peach"
Title: Re: My Chin!
Post by: maelynn on December 27, 2016, 12:37:33 AM
I'm always rubbing my chin too out of habit because for years I would discover hair that I couldn't see that way!

I just visited my mom (mum) for Christmas and she has a full goatee at 67. I'm 20 years younger than her so I consider myself fortunate that I currently only have to pluck out a few hairs. I seems like it could be partially genetic. ???

Working in the medical field I've noticed many women do actually have facial hair. When they are too sick to keep it at bay it quickly becomes obvious. I have an agreement with my coworkers flutterby that we will manage each other's facial hair if one of us ends up too sick to do it ourselves!

I've got one thick black upper lip hair that I'm hoping will be long enough to pluck by tomorrow. Today it isn't too noticeable and could probably pass for a small black head type of blemish. I thought of you CLKD when I was unsuccessful at plucking it out this morning!

Well thought out maelynn to have caring coworkers to attend to those hairs if you become incapacitated. I used to say to my friend's mum who was an ex nurse - you will touch up my roots if I'm in ITU for a long time. She used to smile and shake her head.
The worst ones are below the chin where you can feel something sharp and know it will be two days before you can get a grip on it.
Good luck with the hair pluck tomorrow M.

CLKD, It's to be applied twice a day every day indefinitely but for 4 weeks to get results. :-\
It inhibits some enzyme.
I've been thinking about trying it for a while now and figured with everything going on it might be nice to not have to worry about facial hair. I needed to spend a certain amount of money on my pharmacy order to get free shipping so I added the cream which was sort of like getting it for free.

Oh children are very perceptive and will come out with observations you would rather they wouldn't! Like, " Miss, why are your teeth a bit yellow?", when you are giving instructions for a task or " Your feet are very big" when reading a story to a group of children. I did have a good answer!  " All the better to......!" with a nod to Little Red Riding Hood.

I investigate my chin every morning, it's like brushing my teeth, it has to be done.  I will clear them all as far as i can see with my 10x magnifying mirror and off i go to start my day.  The next morning i will go and investigate my chin again and you better believe there will be another 6 or so sitting there waiting to be plucked again. I swear someone must be putting miracle grow on my face over night!

Eyebrows, these are now thinner than they used to be but some of the hairs are thick and grow really long, these have to be trimmed down when i  notice them. There is also the odd grey ones that stick out and don't lie flat against my brow so these have to be eradicated too.

And yes jorainbow, as soon as you look in a different mirror there is a bearded lady looking back at you with a horrified expression and i have to spend the rest of the day looking down at the ground  :(

Ps watch those overhead spotlights in bars/ restaurants if you've neglected plucking duties. Not enough fingers to cover the hairy spots. you could try putting your feet up so your fingers could keep your toes company BUT only if you've remembered to pluck your toes!  >:( ::) :-*x

I wanted to report that the Vaniqa cream is working. If I remember correctly I  started using the genetic version called eflora around February 10th and I'm now only needing to pluck out about 1-2 hairs per week compared to multiple hairs daily. The nicest part is that my face feels pretty smooth most of the time. I will probably stick with it as long as I can buy it affordably. I realize it's purely a vanity thing but with everything going on in my life at the moment it's nice to not have to deal with facial hair on a daily basis. I use a pea sized amount morning and night to my upper lip and chin.

Title: Re: My Chin!
Post by: maelynn on March 14, 2017, 10:19:40 PM
I thought that might be a pain to remember to apply it but as it turns out I'm saving time not having to tweeze so I guess for me it's worth it. I started working full-time again a week or two before I started using the cream so I don't have as much time as I once did to keep up with dealing with facial hair.

Sometimes when I pull a hair there's a kind of 'shaft' that follows it - sometimes it's damp as it follows the hair. I wonder if that means that there won't be another hair in that place?

I got it for about 10 USD for a 15 gram tube. The tube has lasted me about 1.5 months. It's prescription but I ordered it from the same pharmacy where I get my estrogen.
Thanks for asking about my job CLKD. It's going pretty good. I needed to be able to support myself after my husband's recent affair so I'm certainly grateful to have it!

After being taken off HRT I started to grow a beard.  Not too bad at first, but now I need to shave every day or I could end up with a 'full set'.  I wonder how my darling DH can possibly fancy me when I look male rather than the woman I am.  He's never said anything, but I am sure he knows.  I have tried waxing, no joy.  So I'm stuck with shaving and it's getting worse.  Any suggestions?

Oooh nice to see this thread back  ;)

I have been continuing my dispersible asprin facial every so often to stop the ones that make my chin sore from burrowing in. It seems to work then I forget  ::)  Fluffy brain.

Every so often, I used to get a very long fine facial hair but now I only the nasty cactus bristles.  Once I pulled a fine one out of my back, and it was 3 5/8 inches long  :o I sort of regretted that, and decided that if it grew back, I would not pull it out but see how long it would grow.  It did grow back, but it disappeared one day and has never grown again.  :(  Now I will never know  :(

Only works on hair with pigment yes?

So has anyone had experience of chin hairs improving on hrt? I always had enviably clear skin but now the whole area looks a little grey as the hairs prepare to sprout from under the surface. As soon as they appear I want to pluck and then I have to occasionally dig to get them out.

I was in a meeting last week and could see another attendee mesmerised by the state of my chin. Just started hrt so can I expect this to improve do you think? I currently have 30 to 40 hairs in varying thicknesses inhabiting my poor chin.

Mine are not always dark, but are like yard broom bristles, and I swear they are welded onto my chin bone.  I will gently pull on a barely visible (but intensely irritating) ****le until it gives way and it is always several times longer than could have been imagined.

I have had some luck with using dispersible asprin as a skin scrub on my chin to rid me of the lumps from the unerupted bristles, and Savlon healing gel afterwards to stop it getting so red and sore.

My pores are not looking good - never had this problem before.

Taz, I wonder if the problem on HRT is that one has enough oestrogen, so some of that will be converted to testosterone in the adrenals?

I have some m&s face exfoliator - it stinks of grapefruit and when you massage it in, it turns into little bits, like when you have done too much rubbing out on your school exercise book.  It seems to be good at stopping the hairs making big lumps under the skin which is a huge blessing, as they hurt.

I tried letting them grow to give my face a break during the last two weeks.🦔

Not true in my face Taz - trust me.  I looks hard I does.  Each hair has a single follicle from which a new hair will grow/not. A hair may grow darker if there is a hormonal imbalance.  The very black or stiff white ones I can tweeze with relish  ;D

All the hairs on my legs and arms fell off being on the utrogestan hence GP stopping HRT until they can figure out what to put me on next, but maybe it would have got rid of the chin hair too?

My chin hairs are still pretty grim.

If I pull them out, they grow back under the skin like a spot and sometimes get infected.

I am using salicylic acid face wash and AHA serum to remove any blockages and letting them grow a bit to let my skin heal and so I can get good purchase with the tweezers and make a good job of it.

For some reason there is a good crop of black ones on one side, but the other side is all white with one black hair  ???

Oh my goodness. I’ve had such a  ;D at some of these posts dear ladies..
I have tried everything on the wee blighters on my chin  >:(……….bleaching, electrolysis (blinking sore), plucking………and then I made a huuuuuggggeeee mistake.  I bought a “Flawless”  :o……..
The TV advert shows a lovely, young “smiley woman” looking longingly at her flawless hair remover. She has finally found something that works! My a***e!…..
Firstly, the only hair she has is the full, thick mane of hair on her lovely head! Secondly, they forget to tell you that you’ll finish up with a rather unattractive stubble and you have to use it every day  :o…
I’m back to plucking.  Don’t care if it’s unadvisable, I ain’t walking about with a stubbly chin. Yeuch

Strange seeing this thread. Lately I've started to stare a lot at mature actress's on TV, and noticed that they are completely bare of any facial hair, I mean all over the face, even the nostrils!

Would love to know how it's achieved, anyone in the business know anything?? I'm fixated by their flawless looks  ;D

As for me a huge magnifying mirror and tweezers for facial hair. Once used an epi-wots-it on my legs, never again  :o

They all get their nose hairs waxed. ;) I used to have this done myself and not a single hair is left behind. As for the face they likely remove it all. Perhaps electrolysis.
