Anybody watching?  I can't believe England didn't win last night.

I can't believe that the hooligans are not paying respect to those involved in the November atrocities  :bang:.  Maybe if we vote to leave the EU those intent on causing trouble will be stopped before travelling  :-\

No, don't watch footie.  Too much else on to catch up with  :D

It is being threatened to throw out Russia and UK from the Tournament.  Maybe keep them all in France though  :-\ sort out the wood from the chaff?  Apparently the Russians are agitators …….. associated with the Far Right  :sigh:

Yep I'm watching it LM. I just knew England would not hold out. Not sure why Rooney was subbed, it all seemed to be going ok up to then. Will have to wait & see what happens on Thursday when we play Wales.

The Italians beat Belgium last night, that was a surprise.
I hope Croatia get through to the next round as they are my 2nd favourite team (after England that is)..

Title: Re: Football
Post by: Joyce on June 14, 2016, 03:23:22 PM
Check out the news CLKD. Russia got a fine & told if any more trouble they're out.

Like the fact that some English fans have approached Russian fans & shook their hands! Here's hoping things remain calm from now on. It's a shame that many genuine fans are being tarnished by a few.
Title: Re: Football
Post by: CLKD on June 14, 2016, 03:39:50 PM
The Russians are organised agitators.  As are probably a lot of 'fans' from this side of the Channel.  Certainly some were stopped from travelling as they are on 'lists', certainly some, due to our open border policy, have been travelling when they are on those 'lists'.

I can't understand why the Teams need a warning  :-\ :  trouble was caused, home they should go!
Title: Re: Football
Post by: Dyan on June 14, 2016, 05:01:57 PM
I agree CLKD and I'm a footie fan but don't like trouble. It spoils it for the fans who do enjoy it.
Title: Re: Football
Post by: CLKD on June 14, 2016, 06:17:59 PM
Of course this shows up the weaknesses in European Borders.  How could anyone without a ticket get into mainland Europe?  How could the Russians arrive on French soil all tooled up  :-\ ……… why not start the Games at 6.30 a.m. B4 men get time to have too much alcohol? or play the Games behind closed doors?
Title: Re: Football

CLKD, if you don't like football why have you posted so many times on this topic?.

Here are your comments so far:

"I can't believe that the hooligans are not paying respect to those involved in the November atrocities:.  Maybe if we vote to leave the EU those intent on causing trouble will be stopped before travelling No, don't watch footie.  Too much else on to catch up with"

I like football very much & was hoping that I could contribute to something on the forum that isn't mentioning the EU vote, foreign politics, border policies, & European border. I know we are all entitled to our opinions but maybe sometimes they should be relevant to the title of the topic.
I do not want to cause any trouble as I have enough on my plate at the moment (haven't we all  :() but let's try & keep this light hearted & just enjoy this tournament that only comes round once every 4 years.

Cazi.

First Half Report: England 0 - Wales 1

It took 20 minutes for the game to get going but  then it  got exciting.
England had several chances to go 1 - 0 up but no body in the box to head in the crosses.
It's been all England but then Gareth Bale (I just love the ponytail) got a free kick from long way out & banged it in the back of the net, right at the end of first half.Joe Hart should have saved it...

Post by: Scampi on June 16, 2016, 02:01:11 PM
We are using various methods to keep up with the match in the office - Ian and Sarah listening to 'real' radio, Kate listening to the radio via the internet and I've got the BBC coverage on iPlayer on my phone .... Ian and Sarah knew Wales had scored when Kate and I had only just heard/seen the Rooney foul!!  It just shows how much delay there is on the web!

I hope the second half is exciting.

I am not a football fan, and quite frankly it pees me off that I cant see the normal programmes ( even if they are rubbish) ..I appreciate that many people do like it tho & its a shame that we have so many numb skulls that cant behave in a civilised manner & appear to just use football as another excuse to act like D heads..
I prefer Rugby .. :)

Hodgsons fault, he made too many changes.

I agree littleminnie - He did the same in the previous games. I don't think Rooney is that good these days anyway, these youngsters seem to know there way about the field without him  :-\ :-\

Still at least we are through. :ola: :ola:

Not that I'm embarrassed about being English but we do seem to have lost our way. I read somewhere that it's because there are hardly any English players playing on the continent, which is probably why Wales have the edge with Gareth Bale. :-*

Sam Allardyce is the new England manager then.  :)
Good choice in my opinion, it needs someone who can kick a**ses as well as a football.

Not a very good game to watch tonight - a bit boring really after the last one.

Still at least we survived round 1.

Glad to see you worked it out JD.

much crap off the Columbia team...  >:( don't know how they kept their cool.....
Southgate has really kept them calm..... :)
I've always liked Southgate, and he's doing a better job than all the other managers
put together.......
I too found it hard to watch the penalties, but we were all elated after... ;D

Cannot wait for Saturdays game, I'm sure we'll beat Sweden..

What about anyone getting married, I see that Vicars across the Land have asked people to turn off mobiles.  Apparently theatre goers where watching the Match and making loud comments whilst in the front row  :o .  The Play should have been stopped and they should have been escorted out!  As an actor I would have walked off Stage  :-X
