Hello
I am currently thinking around my ongoing issue of hair shedding. It started a couple of years ago and I thought it was stress, my hairdresser did as well. Then my periods started to change in earnest and I wondered if it were hormones, also whether it was thryoid. I had blood tests and was told my TSH was fine, but I think it was near the limit. Anyhow, I have been living with the change in my hair but recently I wondered about Iron levels. My hair has much less volume than it used to and I think (fingers crossed) it has stopped shedding, BUT the hair that is regrowing is much finer and basically just horrible texture, all fuzzy :( I can 't style it very well. I'd love to improve this if I can.
I have had periods that are quite heavy on and off over the past year and although my iron was probably tested along with everything else I think that low iron stores (ferritin) doesn't always get tested. Do you think low iron stores could have occurred and can that add to the quality of hair declining? I am a vegetarian as well. I started taking Floradix liquid iron this morning and will do this for a month - looking for success stories I suppose :) Anyones hair quality improve?
