Title: LadyCare?
Post by: CJ-sleepless on August 11, 2015, 03:07:04 PM
Someone at work today told me she doesn't use HRT, but instead uses something called LadyCare - never heard of it - googled it, seems to be magnet based and worn I your undies!  Anyone heard of this or tried it? I find it hard to believe that it does anything but my work colleague swears by it!  Always open to alternatives etc, and intrigued to see what others think? Another gimmick?

We have responses to this product on here somewhere, if you do a 'search'  :-\

Do a search on here, but gather it's best to save your money. I asked my GP and was told not to mess with magnets.

I did try a search before I posted but couldn't find anything. Just searched again without the capital c in the middle and found previous posts....

I'm not a believer so not tempted myself, was just interested

Noooooo! We've had several ( er somewhat barmy!) magnet discussions CJ-sleepless - one very recently - so if you've found them that's great  ::)

Haha! Belief is the thing with this... and Science and belief are mutually exclusive!

I'll say no more but wish you all the best ( not with this product though  ;D )

Nowt wrong with the placebo effect  ;)

What did you hope to improve if you treated yourself to one?

Personally there's no symptom I'm suffering from that the drugs aren't treating lol.  The interest arose when a colleague at work mentioned she had one, and another colleague was interested as she can't take HRT (no idea why I didn't ask).  I figured that if this magnet was THAT good, everyone would know about it and there would be no need for HRT - this was my argument in the office..... you can picture how the discussion went I'm sure...

Ladycare use does prevent hot flushes and night sweats but nothing else. I have worn mine for 3 years now . Maybe does not work for everybody.

I just can't imagine having a magnet in my knickers for 3 years!  The mind boggles  :o

I used ladycare while I needed to (it stopped my night sweats completely), and solved the night-time knicker problem with micropore tape..........just taped it to  my tum!  (Nice and cool in the summer!)  ;)

Placebo can be powerful, the whole homeopathy industry is built on it (imo, but I work in pharmaceutical regulation, so I would say that).
Spend your money on yoga instead.

Okay - but my night sweats stopped completely while I used it (at least two years) and I would have been asleep most of the time, so unable to be "placebo-ish" about it!

It's not conscious so it would make complete sense.

I bought one, lovingly referred to in my house as 'the pant magnet', in desperation after trying most other things on the market. I wore it for about 6 weeks but didn't feel any benefit. On waking one morning with really bad anxiety I ripped the pant magnet from my pants and hurled it across the room while shouting lots of expletives!!!  ;D ;D ;D I haven't seen it since!! ;D

I have the lady care magnets too.

Like you it was discussed at work purely by chance as she asked how my weight lose was going. And I replied  'it wasn't  - bloody menopause' My weight has  gone up and down every week despite watching what I eat and cutting out crisps chocolate snd biscuits.

That was about 3 weeks ago and it has calmed my hot flushes but then again I have had all the windows open at home in this heat anyhow and also had the air con on at work. And rarely need my cardigan.

I see from your other threads that you are still having problems and pleased to see you have just been given HRT by your doctor - oestrogen patches. Well done!

Truly I would chuck the magnet as Cherrycrumble has done and concentrate on the tried and tested methods of alleviating symptoms of menopause ( hormone replacement) that you have started. In peri-menopause symptoms come and go - and manufacturers of these sorts of things play on the fact that we will often try anything to eliminate the unpleasant symptoms. and also that we will attribute any improvement in our symptoms to their product - even though it is either placebo or the improvement was happening anyway due to hormones, or even the weather!

I really hope you feel better soon :).

In the 1970s magnet therapy was used on un-united fractures …….. HUGE boxes there were that required plugging in all night ……….. with the magnets attached to the plaster of Paris.

I'd need a HUGE box magnet to fix my menopausal mess, CLKD! I can't imagine they'd be room even in my biggest pants for one of those.

I have one but didn't see any benefit and couldn't be faffed with wearing it in bed.

It is however a strong magnet, if you're doing any DIY you can use it to locate studs/joists behind your plasterboard...

(YouTube is fantastic for DIY!)
