I think that vaginas can get itchy with liners, certainly mine did with STs.  You may have vaginal atrophy?  You need to get a water sample sent *away* for testing!

They can keep things rather umm moist. I used unscented ones as others just made me itch.

Have you sent in a sample for testing incase there is an infection.

I've had irritation from tena ones in the past. Only use occasionally though. Boots ones I've found are best for me.

Do you really require liners?  Better to have thick cotton knickers and change often  ;)

Yep.  As the body begins fighting infection temperature will rise accompanied by chills as the white cells begin working, nausea and a temperature can cause dizziness.  'Within normal limits' then  ;) - get that sample to the Chemist or GP!

kerrieann - if you are feeling hot and dizzy and unwell with urine symptoms then you do need to see a GP. If the infection is established enough to cause these feelings then antibiotics are the only thing which will help. I ignored slight urinary symptoms in September 2013 and by the time I saw the doc the bacteria level was alarmingly high (GP's words) and it took me three months of strong antibiotic treatment to get well again. Better to go now than try to sort the problem out yourself.

I'm on antibiotics at the minute for a water infection - have no idea where it came from though. They are a nuisance but I hope that this time I have caught it in time.

Kerrieann,  tend to agree with Taz that you will prob need an antibiotic.  Also if you want to use a panty liner, i personally prefer the brand natrucare which shouldnt irritate you.

As an on going preventation for you Taz have you ever used d-mannose?

Ive previously suffered recurrent infections they are most uncomfortable so hope you are both feeling soon.

Unfortunately this type of infection is so common in menopausal women.  It's probably just a coincidence that you started using the liners. Were they the scented ones?

When I had my last infection my doc said that no matter how careful you are some people are just more prone to them.
Cranberry will not kill the infection, but it does stop the bacteria from attaching to the lining of the bladder.  So it is more of a preventative measure.

Some tricks I have learned to prevent infection are:-

1) Don't get dehydrated.
2) Don't delay going for a pee when you need one.
3) Make sure you sit on the loo and not hover (difficult when out as who wants to sit on a public loo)
4) When you have finished your pee, just sit there for a minute.  You may find you then do an 'after thought pee'.  It's this    left behind pee that often goes stale in the bladder and causes the infection.
5) Avoid biological washing powder.
6) Avoid tights.
7) Cotton only knickers.

Some of there were told to me by doctors, others I have found out myself.

I hope this helps a little, put do get to the docs as antibiotics are the only cure for an infection.

I switched liners to Allways unscented for the same reasons.
I do think you should see the GP for ABs if you're feeling unwell, not just uncomfortable.
I use D Mannose powder daily in my tea. I think it helps (so does vagifem but not in your tea  ;D)
Hope you feel better.

The bacteria which causes many urine infections lives in the back passage and can be transferred = problems.

Just to add to rosebud57's list - in order to empty bladder properly, those of us with retroverted uterus need to lean forward after you think you've finished. I can do a whole other pee after finishing the first one, by leaning  ;D - well - not quite so much but there's defo some still in there - more than just drips!

What is a retroverted uterus Hurdity?  Can it affect urinating?

It's where the uterus is tilted (usually) backwards Zoe. I found out mine was retroverted during pregnancy.  It didn't affect urination with me although for years I thought it did. After having a hysterectomy I still have to do the sitting forward thingy even though there's no uterus anymore  :-\  This info is interesting though as it can obviously affect women differently http://www.obgyn.net/hysterectomy/significance-tipped-uterus
