Title: Unsettling times
Post by: bramble on March 27, 2014, 06:25:12 PM
Does anyone else find that as they get older, they cannot shrug off bad news as easily? I have just heard that someone I know is seriously ill and it has really unsettled me - it has been in my mind for the last day and I cannot shrug it off. Is it just me or is it all a part of getting older?

It is not just you.
If anything bad happens I just can't shrug it off.
Don't know whether it's meno or getting older, or are they the same thing......    :-\

I dwell on lots of things these days. I always manage to find the worse case scenario and then worry about it.

I never used to be like that until anxiety struck.

I'm also very good at feelings of doom.

I'm the same. Though hubby reckons I worry for worry's sake.

Yes, it's horrible.  I am trying to be more positive this year....but things just stick in my mind. Also, when things go wrong even after they are resolved they stay with me. I have resolved to go back to Mindfulness Meditation to help with this.

I think it is part of getting older - we realise our own mortality as well I suppose......

My dad aged 88 has just been admitted to hospital with cellulitis so now I am having feelings of doom and gloom..... Horrible anxiety and feelings of panic in my tummy

I wish I had a way to control it....

I know it is irrational but don't seem to be able to control it.

It's quite natural you should feel like this at the moment though Wombat. It is very emotional when a parent is admitted to hospital - not something we get used to. I hope he is soon well again.

I agree. When someone close to us is unwell it's very stressful.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
