Yesterday I did three things that made me happy in a small way. I had a day off and just did what I wanted to do. I started with my Zumba class which always cheers me up - fantastic music!
I then tried out some new craft inks that were in beautiful bright colours. I started an art journal and had fun experimenting and getting messy!
Lastly, I planted a couple of plants that I bought while away, and know will flower it the next few weeks and will give me something to look forward to.
On reflection, I wondered what little things you have done recently that make you smile or feel content?
-
Mine are so little they don't register I feel. However, felt good this morning phoning my brother to congratulate him on his new grandchild, born in Oz.
-
A long hot bath with Very Good Book and a cuppa at the end of the day
A blast in the shower during hot weather
Warm towels in the Winter
Cuddly socks .......... :whist: need I go on: OK then ........ seeing my garden grow from nothing in the Spring to being fully over-blown right now ::) I found a shrub yesterday in a bed of nasty nettles that I had forgotten about :o
Dawn chorus on the mornings I can't sleep ..........
-
Waking up and realising that OH and I will be together all day - no work at the moment. I love my work but when I'm off, I like nothing better than spending time with him, so it's great when we're both free together.

The BIG thing is when Himself gets home safely from any journeys ;)

My perfect day is a sunny one - weekend or day off work - and no plans as such. Just me, hunky hubby and the cats, bit of pottering/mooching in the garden, nothing too strenuous you understand. A sit down in the sun with a book for a while with a nice cuppa (and a fan for the flushes). Then maybe a bbq for 2, or any al fresco eating + a nice cold bottle of wine, sit outside chatting by candlelight til it goes chilly...not really had the weather for it this year but I can still dream!
-
We lit our chiminea while sitting out the other night and cooked some burgers in it. I had a glass of red wine and enjoyed the smell of burning wood and burgers. Also like watching my washing dry on a nice sunny day :D
-
Getting on the scales and seeing the weight is lower!! :yipi: (http://:yipi:)

Well done Purplenanny!
I love all the things on here! Eating outside, being with husbands, cuddly socks! It really is the small things that matter in life.
I want to add sharing time with my mum, on a good day, when we're no relaxed and chatting happily! Did this yesterday and realised how lucky I am!

-
I love Desert Island Discs. When ever I catch it I never get to hear all of it as I arrive in the car before the end
-
Having a day to myself at home because it rarely happens, pottering about, making home and garden all nice and tidy, spending time with hubby on the allotment with flask and sandwiches (even though it would take less than 5 minutes to walk home), happy time spent with grandchildren and my grandson saying he loves coming to our house.
When all 3 of our boys are happy
Getting into a freshly made up bed and reading my kindle, and getting up for breakfast again in the morning :)
New clothes
And strangely, helping people get things done at work!

Friday afternoon, knowing that I have the whole weekend ahead and don't have to get up for work. :D

I thought of this thread when I woke up and realised that I'd had a good night's sleep. After months of sleeplessness pre-HRT, I really value that now. :)

-
Yes, I like my bed too! One of my little pleasures is getting into a bed with freshly laundered sheets!
Also, little things like the extra day off which means friends and family are around and it's a bit of shake up of the usual week's routine!
-
Cuddling my dog.

Finding a forgotten ten pound note in a pair of jeans - as happened this morning - result!

Ice skating makes me happy. Gliding along newly prepared ice is such a wonderful feeling, it makes me feel like I'm flying. Sunshine and light evenings also make me happy.
-
Realising that I still have four more days of annual leave :)
-
I always look forward to the clocks going forward at the end of March - not till 31st this year. THen lovely light evenings - yippee :)
Also, we had my step daughters with us for Easter last year - I don't get on well with them - they are VERY high maintenance teenagers (or at least I think they are, compared with what my biological daughters were like 10-15 years ago). My husband is always running them around entertaining them - what happened to going out with your mates?
Sorry, I digress - I am looking forward to Easter because husband and I will be alone - ah! peace and quiet - lovely! :)

Seeing my son come through the arrival gate at Heathrow - does it for me every time!

I have recently discovered grinning, I went for a walk yesterday, stood in a meadow full of buttercups, I could hear the bees humming and the larks singing. a huge grin spread across my face, all my stress left me, oh it was beautiful. Ahhhhh.

Being with hubby; stroking the cat; new clothes (even though money's a bit tight just now); having my 88-year-old Dad still alive and in great fettle; church; reading a funny book at bed time; good food / wine; autumn colours and winter sunshine all make me feel good. But being lucky enough to play on a pipe organ as often as I want and just lose myself in its sound is definitely THE thing that is helping me through this big dipper they call the menopause!
-
Having had a lifetime (55 years) of wearing plain white underwear.
I'me getting into other colours. First it was black, now I'me branching out into other colours, e.g. rumba red.
The thing is I only started trying other colours after I put 12 ish pounds on. The logic is, colour will distract from podge? :-\
However, I just feel nicer wearing them. :-*
-
Seeing my dear Mum improve almost every day now - it's been a long time coming but she's doing really well now and is starting to get some of her independence back at last :)

Thanks ladies! I hope you all find things to make you happy today XX 🌺
