Besides chatting to my cyber pals on here I enjoy reading, [currently reading "The devil rides out" by Paul O'Grady]   Puzzle books, chilling on the sofa when there's something good on TV. Used to enjoy Knitting, but haven't done any for years.

Oh yes! I almost forgot the most important one -  eating cream cakes!

Lovely emoticons Mrs P!

Silverlady, a pastime is much the same as a hobby surely?

You like researching family trees? I'd like someone to do that for me as though I'm interested, I'm too lazy to do it myself. My cousin is though, but so far her investigations have taken her sideways rather than back.

I'm a flitter.

I spend too much time on the computer when I should be doing my "legitimate" hobbies: reading, writing, calligraphy, sewing and gardening.

I used to do killer suduko and puzzles but then I got the laptop!

Oh yes, and I watch far too much TV and can't even tell you what I've just watched!

But where does the time go?   ;D

Not really LD I don't play online games, I play Adventure and Hidden Objest Games. http://www.bigfishgames.com/ I download an hours free trial to a Game Manager and if I like it I buy it.

Some games are really difficult with almost MENSA  like puzzles and situations to solve, you have to think outside the box and it keeps your brain working.

Games like "Riven" and "Myst"and "Dreamfall" I have bought ( though only a few play on Windows 7)  with Windows7 Professional I can play them in compatability mode.

Here is a free online game site  http://www.addictinggames.com/

http://www.juggernart.com/games/free-online-platformer-games/platform-jump-n-run-arcade-games-2.html

Happy gaming

My hobbies are my home, gardening, our allotment, eating out with friends, walking, reading, internet, my little cat

I used to enjoy sewing and making clothes, curtains etc. but I lost the enthusiasm years ago. I do make alterations to my clothes though but last night I excelled myself and made a doorstop like some I had admired in shops recently. This photo is not the one I made but is the same style. I made mine out of an old tapestry cushion cover and I'm really pleased with it.

OK - so I don't like knitting, sewing, housework but:

I have added antique fairs and charity shops to my list of hobbies.  Occasionally I go cycling.  Sometimes I even walk  :o  ;D.  Lots to do in the garden now, plus making sure that the pond fish are well fed as they layer fat ready for Winter.  Same with the poultry, keeping the runs/sheds clean and tidy to stop red mite outbreaks  >:( ...........

For someone who said several years ago that 'we don't have time for the internet, e-mailing and all that' - guess who is on here the most  ;D

so that takes me to:

I drop into 2 menopause groups; occasionally a 'crafts and gardening' group; Hugh FW Forum regularly; rarely a dog group and sometimes one that discusses caravans, motor-homes, camping - plus an insect group and more recently a Volvo owners Forum .......time I got a Life  :-\  ??? and all with different 'names' and all with different security passwords so my brain can't be *that* tired ......... could 'searching for reading glasses/mobile phone' by classed as a hobby?

I don't like knitting or sewing either, I blame being left handed for my lack of knitting skills and would rather buy new clothes than sew them!  :-\  My hobbies are reading, doing crosswords and word games, playing germbuster on ds lite, tetris on game boy (very addictive!), swimming (when I have the energy), walking with OH and dog, going on holiday and eating nice food.   :)

I also love walking with my 3 German Shepherds i have 2 long coats and 1 standard coat !!!! They will always be like my child !!! They get all the love in the world .... :scottie:

I also try going out on long walks with my 8 year old son who is Autistic he can't go out to play on his own so us going out and doing things at weekend and school holidays is a fantastic release for him to be able to just run and be free he enjoys the woods so much !!!!

Crikey! we must have been busy  ;D

SO: I like reading; gardening; watching TV; walking; sitting to watch scenery; sitting by our ponds; bird watching; insects; antique fairs; browsing charity shops

I don't: knit; crochet; cook; much housework; sew; dig the garden; enjoy shopping much; often meet with friends due to anxiety; go to theatre or folk evenings for the same reasons ..........

What do you and your husbands/OH do either as separate enjoyment or togetherness?

Wow,

Just came across this thread. You all have lovely hobbies. My hobbies are not so ladylike:

Kayaking
Scuba Diving (although my anxiety has all but put paid to this one);
Climbing wall when I can;
Gym;
Walking trekking;
Playing classical guitar ( the only refined thing in the list).

Oh, I do read as well, when I can find time!

I wish I could do something arty/crafty.  Knitting always looks nice, and I would love to be able to sing!

Jeepers x

Knitting scares me  :o

You are outdoor-sy then  ;).  I HATE being wet and cold .......

CLKD,

My daughters would beg to differ on the singing front :-D

Why does knitting scare you?  If you had said scuba diving scare you , or climbing,  but knitting? :o

Yes, I am definitely outdoorsy. when its cold, wet and miserable, its really nice when you get back and have a hot shower, put on something fluffy and put your feet up in front of the fire... a reward you feel you've earned :-)

I'm just starting my 2nd year golfing and still loving it.  We have a Presentation evening at the end of October and I have won 7 majors so far with my name on trophies and then the club boards and I have won over £200 in club shop vouchers.  Still love playing in all weather except red hot days, nearly fainted one time in the soaring heat

And now I have brought my sewing machine back out and starting to make things to hopefully sell x

Any1 heard of nail binding?

no, but it made me think of a bobbin type thing I got as a child. You wound wool onto nails and got something knitted out of the bottom - loving my descriptions  ;D ;D

Just found something called a French Knitting Doll on Etsy

That's a memory, my friend had one when we were in Primary School - wonder if she remembers.  If I remember I'll ask  ;D

This year I intend to make cards to send rather than buying new, from lovely ones that have been too good to throw in2 recycling.

Where would I find appropriate mounts, ??? Hobby Craft ??? i.e. those that look like photo frames.

And yes, my friend does remember the 'French knitting' doll.

My mum definitely used to get those cards, with the picture frame, from Hobbycraft.  I like to do some hand made cards, I hate seeing with a machine but to s hand sewing very relaxing so I use all types of materials and do some aplique and bead work. Gift tags too.  Still contest thing we did as kids by cutting up old Christmas cards to make gift tags. 😁

Yep we used old cards for labels until about 5 years ago.  My sister does a lot of 'kits' or hand-sewn cards.  That's a step too far, I can't even thread a needle!

We also re-use festive/birthday wrapping paper.

On that note I bought two reels of paper tape to replace sellotape. A lot of wrapping cannot be recycled because of sellotape but this stuff can,it's similar to washi tape which I think is Japanese in origin and used in crafts. Not as sticky but given I spent an hour of my life peeling off plasticity tape, so I could recycle gift wrap, well that's me sorted next year!

I buy washi tape from Etsy, I am quite devoted to that site,  but this Christmassy design I bought from the brand  new product range in Cancer Research charity shop, in their post Christmas sale.

So the Tax Man is going to target people who 'trade' on e-Bay or sell as we do in cabinets in order to get rid of unwanted items.

By various on-line platforms informing the Tax Dept of those 'earning' more than a certain amount, I can't remember which exactly!!!  Talk about Big Brother.  Pity that the government of the day don't go after those who put their monies off shore  >:(
