Any breast cancer survivors used Ospemifene?
If so does it help vaginal atrophy/ GSM as well as vaginal estrogen?
Pros? Cons?
Any info appreciated.

Morning. How many years R U post surgery?
My GP prescribed VA treatment without a 2nd thought as the dose is very low.
Which symptom would you like to ease first?

Had breast cancer in 2006, followed by 10 years of Tamoxifen. Am now 70 with severe vaginal atrophy and frequent UTIs.
Am using Intrarosa which is brilliant inside but doesn't do anything for outside so have been using vaginal estrogen...just a tiny bit every night on the vulva and my urethral caruncle in addition to the Intrarosa. This regime is very good but they don't like me using both. Ospemifene came up for discussion to try but I don't know anything about it so was wondering if anyone had used it.
For me at 70 my quality of life far outweighs any risk so I am up for trying anything!😊

Quality of Life? Tamoxifen in the 1990s almost killed me :'( :-\ so I did without. Still here >wave</.
It is absolutely OK to use VA treatment as often as necessary.
VA mimics urine infection-type symptoms really really well, to many medics fail to realise this! Is there Nurse Practitioner who could advise, also we can buy oestrogen from BOOTS over the counter these days ;)

I am not sure this is specifically a BC issue. I haven't had it and they wouldn't let me use vagifem inside and estriol cream outside. And intrarosa was far too dangerous. My personal opinion is that it's all about cost control and this is just a convenient excuse. You can ask for a referral to an NHS meno clinic which may prescribe both but it's usually a long wait. In the meantime you can either buy it online or complain to the practice manager.

The oestrogen cream from Boots is called Ovesse. They have a habit of giving the third degree so I would be careful how you answer their questions, its not for any underhand reason, its because of their complete ignorance of the treatments and how they work.

If I was that far out from breast cancer I would be on systemic hormone therapy.
At the very least I would be on duavive (equine estrogen plus bazedoxifene) or tibolone.
However if you choose not to take either of those SERMs then ospemiphene would be my third line choice of SERM (ahead of tamoxifen or raloxifene).
Ospemiphene is not only helpful for the urogenital tract but like all SERMs is also bone protective.

Even though I had breast cancer 20 yearsxago it was drummed into me not to use Estrogen so deep down I have always been scared to use it..still am at age 70 even though I know that quality of life is important and outweigh s any risks.
Silly I know but I have finally got courage to overcome my fears thanks to the support ofpeople on this forum.❤️

Also it's important to remember that many Oncologists now recommend treatment due to the small amount of active oestrogen.
