Title: Bleed just after 6 months on HRT

Hi
I’ve been on HRT for just over 6 months - had a couple of slight bleeds but just had another slightly heavier one. I started a new bottle of gel 2 days ago.
I’m on 1 squirt of eostrodiol  gel and 100mg progesterone - so the lowest dose.
Should I be worried?

 :welcomemm:  I wouldn't be worried.  What were your periods up 2 prior to starting HRT and which symptom did U want to ease B4 asking for it?

If your own hormones are fluctuating they may overwhelm the HRT regime.  Is there anything in the leaflet in the box ?

MayB put the names of the products in2 the search box: make notes.  There are probably other threads about what you have been prescribed.

Hi Thanks for responding. Prior to taking HRT I had not had a period for about 4 years. My symptoms had been some hot flushes, but mainly joint aches. I managed for about 4 years but then they came back including flat mood. The HRT made these symptoms loads better but my improvement in sleep was the biggest change (which I hadn’t really thought was a problem too much).

Hi

Google 'post menopausal bleeding bms guide' to see the current guidelines (don't follow any quack/scare stories offered to you, only read the BMS site!)

Often bleeding isnt due to anything scarey but should be investigated by your GP if it happens more than 6 months after starting HRT - sounds as if you're just over that 6 mths. I had PMB around 10 months after starting, it was investigated and everything was OK.

It'll probably turn out to be your body getting used to the hormones but always best to err on the side of caution)

Hi I believe its pretty normal to experience this within the first few months esp if on continuous P. Are you taking it orally or vaginally?

I’m taking the the gel one pump a day and progesterone 100mg tablet

Maybe try it Vaginally and see if it makes a diff as it gets to the source easier.
