Title: Vagifem vs estrogen cream.
Post by: Nina57 on December 20, 2025, 03:36:32 AM
Hi all,
Just been prescibed Vagifem 10mcg as the estrogen cream i used for 6 months has not been enough to stop my non stop UTIs. Planning to use both.
Im a bit worried about the risks.
Is using both too much?
Are the tablets absorbed into the blood stream?
Do they cause yeast infections?
Forgot to ask urologist about this.
Thx

Will you still be able to get both or is the urologist just switching you to Vagifem ?

It is not too much to use both but you will need to find a regime of use that works for you.

If you suspect a yeast infection maybe try a 150mg one dose fluconazole tablet as candida is systemic. It also saves yet another cream or pessary down below.

I've been using both for years every day, a smear of Estriol cream twice a day. You use what it takes to control symptoms, when you feel you can reduce do so but if not, carry on, its perfectly safe to do so.
