Not sure if this is the best place to post this. 54 post menopause, told a few years ago I have bowel and bladder prolapse but it hasn't caused much problem until this wk when I have low abdomen ache, and a feeling like I have a tampon in wrong. V uncomfortable.
I had a marina fitted 3 months ago and have evorel patches. I used to have vaginal estrogen but haven't used it recently as my va symptoms went away with the everol patches.
My question is, could the marina have made it worse or is it just coincidence? I have read on other threads that vaginal estrogen can help, even though I have systemic estrogen from patches, but does progesterone have any effect on prolapse? I was bleeding on evoerel plus Utrogestan, hence the marina, but would adding Utrogestan help prolapse?
I'm increasing my pelvic floor exercises but any insights or experiences would be very much appreciated. If it doesn't get better soon I'll request a gp appt.

I do feel for me progesterone and progestins do make my vagina worse, but I also think that is pretty rare for people to experience that effect to a big extend.
For me though, systemic estrogen doesn’t do the job at all for my vaginal atrophy, so I think starting back up with the vaginal estrogen could definitely help.
For me, I have an appointment in 9 days to get things checked out, I’m not sure what I’m feeling, there seems no room in my vagina and I feel like I might have a prolapse or it might be atrophy. For the last few weeks, I have been alternating using an estriol suppository and cream on the outside and using a moisturizing suppository (with hyaloronic acid) and a similar gel on the outside and that seems to helping a bit with the full feeling, so at least part of my issues is VA. It has become much easier to insert the suppositories now, before I could sometimes hardly fit my finger.
(I’m 50 and still in peri, this last year, my vaginal issues (and menopausal symptoms) just got so much worse, so I’m hoping that means late peri).

Thank you, that's helpful. Good luck with your appointment.

Hi Fianna,
I would agree progesterone vaginally makes the walls of my vagina looser and my prolapse noticeable; I assume that includes the Mirena coil.. I believe progesterone is supposed to loosen things up, which does not help if you have a prolapse.
Trying to take the right amount of progesterone in a way that has fewer symptoms but does not turn my lady parts into a wizards sleeve has been an ongoing problem, and why I'm avoiding a coil.
I don't have an answer, I can concur only.

Thank you Aubrey, the coil might explain the worsening then as it's releasing more progestin close to that area. I've started vaunal estrogen again and been doing pelvic floor exercises (which tbh I had neglected) and I feel more comfortable already.
