Title: Recommended BCP pill for perimenopause
Post by: mcgalel on October 13, 2025, 01:50:12 PM
Can anyone recommend a good low dose pill for perimenopause?

I have been on a combined pill for 20 years and getting strong symptons of migraines, hot flashes, insomnia (2-3 hours a night), heart palpitations low mood tiredness, brain fog.

GP's have advised me that the that the pill I am should be combating those symptoms, which is irrelevant as I shouldnt be getting them whilst on the pill >:(

Does anyone have any good recommendations for BCP pills?

I know its trial and error but I have been recommended Zoely and yasmin by some people. I also thought about coming off the pill for three months to see how the symptons unfold but it might worry me a bit with withdrawal symptoms.

Unable to get HRT as been dismissed for being 'too young' and not to be prescribed in perimenopause until age 45. Figured I may change pill for now as a step but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I take Zoely and love it.

I would recommend it hands down over Yasmin because it is body identical estradiol, much lower clot risk and the progestin is non- diuretic.

Additionally I would make sure you are taking your combined pill every day if you aren't already - no medication is as effective if only taken 75% of the time, and withdrawal bleeding confers no health benefits.
