Title: Slynd and oestrogen only patch
Post by: EP83 on October 13, 2025, 01:45:31 PM
Hi all,

My GP has switched me to Slynd progestogen only pills to replace progestogen combined patch. I'm not sure when to start taking the tablets though. The info leaflet says first day of period, but I'm only getting withdrawal bleeds on the HRT anyway (and I'm not taking for contraception so don't need to worry about protection from pregnancy) - I'm assuming I just start taking now. Has anyone else switched and can give any advice?

Just start it.

Birth control was historically started with a period so that it could in theory be relied on straight away.

Most practitioners now recognise it is better started immediately rather than delaying, however the package leaflet is still stuck in 1969.

If it is being taken for endometrial protection only, this is irrelevant anyway.

Nobody needs to have withdrawal bleeds, they provide no medical benefits and it can be taken every day.
