Title: Utrogestan vaginally
Post by: YoozaName on October 08, 2025, 02:42:02 PM
Hi all, I've been taking utrogestan orally. I have read that it can be used vaginally. I am a bit confused. Can exactly the same pill be used in the vagina? How can it be absorbed if it's not swallowed? Sorry, being a bit dim. Thank you  :)

Yes it can. The capsule dissolves and the progesterone is released directly into the vagina and from there into the womb, where it is needed. It does not need to be processed in the gut. The Mirena coil works in a similar way, releasing progestogen directly into the womb.
