Title: Thinking of going back on HRT- combi patches?
Post by: tambourine queen on October 01, 2025, 07:11:26 AM
Hi all
I’m thinking of going back on HRT after a bad experience 2 years ago with Utrogestan. Have the combo patches worked for anyone better than Utrogestan?

The combi patch can be a good starting point however the problem with them is they contain a fixed low dose of estradiol, 50mcg.

Whilst more than one patch can be safely used, this is often not supported by the NHS, nor is adding supplemental estrogen and so women on this formulation often end up either having to settle for undertreatment or change to something else.

However if you would be happy with 50mcg with no potential for dose titration this can be a great option.

Also don't be afraid of the multiple oral progestins or the IUS. I don't tolerate my own endogenous progesterone very well but am fine with most progestins as long as they are devoid of diuretic properties.
