Dear ladies
Has any of you ever worn two HRT patches at once to try and combat a symptom? I use Evorel 100 patches, and the only symptom they have not beaten is the all-over body itching. My HRT checkup nurse said I could use two Evorel 75s to see if that helped. Is it dangerous to use two patches at once? I normally follow medical advice to the letter, but I would eat a bar of soap if it would stop this crazy itching. Thank you.

Assuming you are not itching because of the patches, or any adhesive products you are using over the top to keep them on, there is no problem with wearing more than one patch.
Many women have to do this to achieve a therapeutic level, however they usually have to pay privately for anything above 100mcg, so if you are able to get 150mcg on the NHS you are very fortunate.
Additionally, if you are itching because your skin is dry, then I would think about androgens as well because these encourage production of the skin's natural oils.

Hi there
Thank you for replying. I have Evorel 75 patches leftover from before I used to take the 100s. I am currently wearing a 100 patch on one buttock and a 75 on the other ;D. I am only wearing these together for one day, because I am scared, which is why I posted the question. Thanks again, lovely.

The other thing I would consider is how well they are sticking - a smooth flat hairless area is best and even when I was using patches for IVF in my early 30s my buttocks would have failed at least on two of these counts.
I used to use my lower back and lower abdomen. I was wearing 2*100mcg patches during that time.

When you say lower abdomen, do you mean the stomach area? I thought I had to keep the patches away from the breasts.

No problem using 2 at once but if every other symptom is controlled by 100mcg I'd be wary of increasing but such a big amount, you'd normally increase in 25mcg increments. Although it's worth trying you may find the itching isn't an oestrogen deficiency symptom. It's worth considering if you might be allergic to anything, shampoo, washing powder etc including the glue in evorel patches (my allergic reaction to it was localised but it isn't always). I put mine on my lower abdomen below the knicker line.
