Title: Is it ok to have periods while on continuous HRT?
Post by: janeyg73 on September 11, 2025, 12:09:30 AM
I’ve been on continuous hRT for a couple of years (100mg Utrogestan and 1mg Sandrena every day). I have a 5 day period most months , although sometimes skip a month. I had an US last year which showed thickened lining, so had a hysteroscopy in Jan and all was clear.
I’m still concerned whether it’s ok that I’m bleeding regularly on continuous regime. Gp doesn’t seem bothered, should I push for better advice?

From what I understand, Utrogestan doesn't routinely stop periods like progestin-based medications can, so if you are in peri rather than full menopause this is normal. I take micronised progesterone continuously rather than cyclically as I have endometriosis, and my periods have continued on roughly the same schedule (just less horrible!).
