Title: This Guardian article screams menopause!
Post by: Mary G on August 31, 2025, 11:52:18 AM
This is an interesting read but also incredible that so many people miss the obvious answer which is menopause.  Even a doctor in the comments section missed it:

Ten quid she leaves the doctor's with a clean bill of health and a prescription for antidepressants.

Dear oh dear.
Davina, you need to step up again! We are still living in a blissfully un menopause aware society, it seems.

It even says 'so many women your age' so why can't they connect the dots?

I thought how awful that they are so far apart that they no longer communicate their needs.  She's been the 'keeper' until recently so her husband hasn't had to bother other than thinking about himself  :'(.  Everything on hand, laundry etc done, back in the drawers by the Washing Fairy .........

The husband does sound pretty hopeless and inconsiderate.

I thought there were a fair amount of pro HRT comments but equally a lot of people desperate to make this poor women's problems anything but the menopause.

I agree MaryG, anything but 'women's troubles' eh!
Sometimes it feels we haven't come that far since middle aged women were routinely tranquillised, or sent to asylums in Victorian times, and witches (also middle aged menopausal women??? :o) were burnt at the stake.
Poor poor things....
