So I came to MM as I believed my vag atrophy had resurfaced and the reluctance for GP to give vagifem.
In June told high BP and given Losartan for BP within days I started with urine problems like UTi yet urine test always negative.
After six weeks of struggle now on another medication and more blood test.
Today blood test resulted in appt by phone with GP about kidney test results. Already told that there was a stage 3 level showing.
Not good and Mr Google not helped - no way to reverse.
I am fighting back the tears....12months care free and now this.

Medics often fail to explain properly what any results might show, I spent hours as a secretary talking to patients when the Doctors moved on ::)
What did the GP suggest? Stop reading GOOGLE etc..
Your GP should be referring U to a proper medic who knows about vaginal atrophy. Sorry that I can't remember what you told us in your other thread :-\ so my response won't be all that it could be .

My husband's level 3. He was told to drink plenty of water, avoid salty foods and generally eat healthily.
Otherwise he's getting on with life and these things are all to do with the ageing process.

Google is the worst. Make an appointment to see the doctor face to face and ask for a referral to a specialist.

Thank you .
Intial panic as reception staff phoned and said my blood test were back and the practice nurse wanted to discuss them with me over the phone and offered me appointment for Friday 22nd August. I asked could they tell me what it was that was a concern and they declined and said it it had been of great concern they would have seen or spoken to me sooner.
I put the phone down and sobbed, hubby phoned surgery and said he was very concerned. Said they would send message to my GP.
I honestly know that there is something wrong with the burning and pinching when passing urine.
Had dental appt earlier and just the short drive and dashed to loo, then went before I left, 5 mins in the car and the urge pinching burning starts, was shown chart which indicated - anyway since starting this GP phoned have to stop my bp meds as potassum is very low. Asked if I had cramps muscle pain etc. Last medication made the levels rise too high. Feel like on the roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
So hubby sent to Asda bag salted crisps.....cant wait... ;D
But where would I have been if waited for nurse to see me on 22nd August!!!
But..... drum roll.... the GP asked were the syptoms still the same down below - then she said she has checked the indications of Vagifem and no reason why I can't re start it and will be in chemist tomorrow.
Also she will rethink what BP is best to not cause raised ot lowered potassium levels. Appt given for next week.
Panic over and waiting for crisp.....should have suggested chippy.... ??? more salt in diet wow.

Glad you got the vagifem sorted out.
Have you got a home BP machine?
If not I would consider investing in one and getting to know what your resting, unstressed blood pressure is.
Often people are started on blood pressure medication based on surgery readings only which do not reflect their native BP, especially if you have anxiety around medical issues.
The blood pressure medication then affects renal function, and round and round you go.
Even if you do have high blood pressure, lifestyle measures can go a long way and should always be discussed either before or alongside drug treatment.

I agree with Bombsh3ll about the BP monitor.
If you donthave one, ask your gp if you can borrow one to take home to test yourself over a week or two.
I know someone who has extremely high blood pressure everytime they get tested at the GP surgery or hospital, the GP surgery gave them a BP monitor for the week to test at home and every reading was normal. They've done this an extra 2 times and they're were normal too.

I have that trouble - I think it is referred to as white coat syndrome and I get it a lot as I am always petrified they are going to tell me at the doctors or hospital that there is something seriously wrong with me. I have an Omron BP reader at home and because it logs the readings digitally on an app, I am able to take my own readings as and when and also share these with the doctor when speaking to them. Plus has helped me out when trying to get a doctors appointment for serious chest infections when appointments are sparse as I can add on that my BP is much lower than normal.

Yep I have my owm BP machine....and it like so many has always been higher in surgery setting.
Not sure what can be gained in my having blood test today - when GP told me to stop taking meds yesterday afternoon and try and add salt to diet. But as always receptionist think it is ok, despite my explanation of what Dr said.
So I am going with the flow.....stress free day today.
Thanks everyone.......
:thankyou:

Just an update.
Last blood test showed levels back to normal since stopping the medication, on the chart I have dropped into lower kidney level as in line with my age.
Am trying to go without meds and see if BP levels out naturally before considering any change to other medication.
