Hi all I am not on HRT (didn’t agree with me at all too much bleeding sore boobs etc!!) and am coping ok with the perimenopause overall but wondering if anyone else has experienced getting period like cramps and sometimes spotting a day or so after having sex? I am not having periods (on Cerelle POP). It’s a bit of running joke now that after a bit of nooky I will pay for it!!
Thanks :) Alice

Hi Alice. It's advisable to have any spotting after sex checked out. I would encourage you to do this especially as you also have cramping just to rule out any problems. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Alice,
It would be advisable to get checked out as Taz said, before I went on HRT I used to get cramps after sex (no spotting) and I read up about it being a symptom of low oestrogen. Since going onto HRT and increasing my dose over time I don’t get those cramps anymore. It felt like period pain right after an orgasm like my uterus was contracting. If you get pain during sex that can also signal vaginal atrophy. Are you up to date on smears? X

Thanks Taz2 and LittleClaire I will bring it up with the GP - yes, all up to date with smears and had an Ultrasound when I was on HRT but not one recently (had a small <2.5cm fibroid then).
