Title: Does tibolone work for hot flushes?
Post by: Fanu on July 01, 2025, 04:14:04 PM
Hi this is my first post so apologies if it's in the wrong place or I make a mistake!

I'm 50 and in late perimenopause. I'm unable to take oestrogen due to a medical condition (hereditary angioedema) so I eventually got referred on and saw an endocrinologist who prescribed tibolone. I've been having severe hot flushes and sweats the last couple of months and I'm on day 11 of tibolone with no improvement yet. I know this is too soon to know but I'm starting to get worried! Is it possible it won't work and if so what do I do then? My plan is to wait 2-3 months and if nothing shifts then I'll go back to the endocrinologist (she said I can just phone up and make an appointment).

I really want to know how others have got on with tibolone specifically with regards to flushes. It'd be nice if it worked on my atrophy, energy, joint pain and fatigue but the flushes and sweats, especially at night, are driving me nuts. On a bad night I get woken up every hour (more often 3-5 times).

Thanks for any help!
