Dear all, I have struggled with the progesterone part of hrt for years, utrogestan I had itchy skin orally, then as a pessary really painful bladder etc, I am now on cyclogest 100 rectally for half the month but a) i need to consider continuous b) for that half of the month i feel clinically depressed and unable to function and usually in a lot of muscle pain, the change in my functioning and mental health is night and day. I tried a mirena for a short time but felt ill, very itchy and when they took it out it was infected. My prescriber has suggested trying drospireone (or similar spelling) I know this is a progestogen. Does anyone have experience or advice? I just can't go on like this. I am due to have hip surgery and I can't cope with anything even making the decision. I am 50, with one ovary since age 32 been on hrt 5 years.

:bighug: I suspect that your remaining ovary is contributing to how you feel.
Do U have a date for surgery?

I think it was probably the loss of the ovary which contributed to bone issues to be honest and a big reason for remaining on hrt. Date for surgery is August however a second opinion advised that I have MRI scan first which hasn't been done - full hip replacement. I am wondering if continous progesterone might be better or long cycle. Or to try this synthetic. Thank you for replying I'm not good with this.
