Title: Change utrogestan for holiday
Post by: Queensland22 on June 18, 2025, 07:29:47 PM
Hi all,
I'm on day 10 of utrogestan which I take alongside 2 pumps of oestrogel. To fit in with my holiday schedule am I ok to take utrogestan just for 10 days this month and next to make my period in line with my holiday! My period comes 3 days after I stop taking utrogestan so this would fit on so my period comes before my holiday next month! Then September is go back to 12 days! Thanks!

It depends what you mean by your period - are you still menstruating naturally or postmenopausal and just having withdrawal bleeds?

If you are postmenopausal, you can generally schedule your withdrawal bleed whenever you want with reasonable precision.

However if you are still menstruating, this will happen when it happens, as micronised progesterone is not strong enough to override an endogenous cycle.

If this is the case, you would be better asking your GP for a course of progestin that is specifically indicated for menstrual postponement such as norethisterone or provera.
