Hello everyone,
I’m struggling today, feeling low and waves of a sort of deja vu, then I feel sick and anxious.
I have a menopause appt on Friday with Mr Savvas. I’m on estradot 100 mg and 3 pumps of oestrogel (upped from 2 pumps on April 18th when things started to feel off).
It’s all really tricky to manage despite a strong support system and lots of tools.
I just wanted to say you ladies have helped me so much in the past so I wanted to reach out again.
It feels a bit like my brain isn’t working properly. And yet last week I felt a little better.
It’s all so tough and I long to feel like me again.
I am on quite high oestrogen and low progesterone (progesterone intolerant) and two antidepressants. I have a psychiatrist appointment on Tuesday.
Still it feels, as I am 51, that maybe something hormonal is shifting and doing some sort of merry (not to me!) dance inside me.
If anyone has any words of reassurance I would be really grateful. I keep saying ‘this too shall pass’ and I know it will but I long for the feeling of being safely on the shore again.
❤️❤️❤️

MayB the extra regular pump is too much too soon? Some find that keeping to 2 pumps and adding an extra occasionally is enough to stop the sudden return of symptoms. Something to ask at your appt. mayB?
Eat little and often if U can. Get some sunshine, try to relax by listening to the birds etc., not easy I know.

I'm 61 and those blippin hormones still play up every now and then. I used to find running was brilliant for anxiety, low mood etc or like clkd says, relaxation,it is difficult,we've all been there and all managed (somehow) to get through the other side but I do realise it is tougher for some sadly as symptoms vary so widely

Thank you both, I am really touched and grateful for your replies.
Good to be reminded of what helps and I will discuss the increase in gel with the meno clinic on Friday.

What about testosterone? That's the one thing that jumps out as missing from your story.
It sounds like you must already be under a private specialist given the individualised estrogen dosing and reduced progesterone - this is fine as long as your endometrium is being monitored - so you would probably be able to access testosterone quite easily.
It can make a real difference to mood and psychological symptoms.
Also I would question both the indication and efficacy of the antidepressants that you are taking.
If they are genuinely indicated and making a noticeable difference to your wellbeing then great, but people are often parked on antidepressants long term with little evidence of any therapeutic benefit.
The prescription is then just put on repeat with no further medical review or exit strategy, and it is commonly middle aged women that this happens to.

Thanks, the antidepressants were working well for me (along with lots of other tools) and I spoke to a psychiatrist yearly.
I am on testosterone but it may need upping.
I had an abnormal blood test ‘sex serum binding’ was very high. I wonder if it’s related to that.
I am very tearful and having waves of what feel like flashbacks to feeling like this 4 years ago. It’s very strange and difficult.
