Title: post meno bleeding
Post by: discogirl on April 14, 2025, 06:51:03 PM
Hello everyone

Been a while since I posted although I do look in everyday.

I stopped hrt on 1st Nov 2024 due to post meno bleeding.

I had a hysteroscopy a few days later which came back fine and ive been off hrt since.

This afternoon a couple of hours after having sex i started bleeding

Any thoughts would be grateful.

Thanks everyone x

A negative hysteroscopy covers you for at least six months, which you are just a whisker over and it is extremely unlikely to be anything sinister.

My money would be on vaginal atrophy given your genital tissues haven't seen estrogen for several months and it is likely that intercourse has resulted in some tearing and abrasions of the thin and fragile mucosa.

This is the commonest cause of postcoital bleeding in postmenopausal women.

I think the same particular ly given the timing. Have you used topical oestrogen since you stopped hrt?

Hi bombsh3ll and sheila

thanks so much for your replies.

thats what i was thinking to be honest,  I just didnt experience any pain or discomfort while having sex.

Ive obviously still reported it to my gp so i'll ask her about using topical estrogen.

thanks again ladies xx

Hi. I posted on the post menopause page about the same thing. I'm seeing my GP tomorrow just to check.
