Title: Sleep!
Post by: Cassie on April 11, 2025, 08:57:02 AM
I often have disturbed nights, I will fall asleep around 10 30pm and then usually wake by 4am and thats it, no matter how much I try to fall back asleep, I cannot. Will put the telly on and then what does happen ocassionally is, that I will doze off for an hour between 6 and 7am and then wake. But the strange thing is on the odd occassion, that I do have a solid nights sleep lets say 8 hours not necessary deep as I remember wakingin the night perhaps to scratch my nose but falling back asleep, instead of waking up refreshed I feel as if I have a hangover and feel very groggy for most of the day. I definitely feel better when I have had less sleep and even do well on a night of waking often. I have always felt worse when I have had too many hours sleep, anyone else have this, a friend said to me once, sleep induces sleep, so the more you sleep, the sleepier you feel  :-\

I have a very similar pattern, 4am awake then after a hour on my phone I go back into a very deep sleep for a few hours. I wake up feeling tired and groggy even though I've had 9 hours sleep in total albeit interrupted. If I go to bed really late say 12pm and wake at 7am I feel better but then feel really tired in the afternoon.
Inactivity makes me feel tired during the day but then I can't get to sleep at night. I feel more awake when I'm busy and active and probably sleep better.
It's hard finding a regular routine now I'm retired, never had this problem when working 45 hours a week unless I was stressed about something, then I'd be awake at 4am.
