Title: Testosterone blood test on testogel
Post by: Ljp on March 31, 2025, 04:46:27 PM
Hi
I’ve been using testosterone as part of my hrt since 2019, really helps a lot with brain fog, joint pain and energy levels, and had improved my libido.
I had to use Tostran but had to change to Testogel when it was discontinued.
I use one sachet spread over 8 days.

I’ve just had a health check, including bloods at my GP,  they wanted to check my testosterone levels too.

Results today are

Serum testosterone:
1.4 nmol/L
Reference range:
0.4 to 1.2

Serum sex hormne binding glob:
60.0 nmol/L
Reference range:
11.7 to 137.2

Free androgen index:
2.3 %
Reference range:
0.5 to 4.7

The note says to speak to GP, I’m
Presuming at the serum testosterone level is 1.4 and maximum should be 1.2?

I’m really worried they might try and take me off it and refuse it on prescription?

Can anyone offer advice please?

It's the free T level which is important because that is what is available to your body to use. Your Free T is well within normal range if not on the low side, so you definitely shouldn't be taken off T if anyone knows what they're doing and looks at those results....

You’re lucky your surgery tests SHBG, mine stopped a year ago and just do Serum/Total now. I’ve been told they’ll stop my Testogel if the serum result is over range, so I stop using it for a week before the test. It’s ridiculous!
