Title: Progesterone Intolerant
Post by: Law on March 03, 2025, 09:56:39 PM
Hi, I’m desperate for some advise.
I have not felt this ill is such a long time. And every month I seem to feeling worse.
When I’m taking the progesterone my back pain is 100 times worse & I also get breast & armpit pain.
I’ve realised I must be intolerant to progesterone.
Is there anything I can do or take until I manage to get a doctors appointment? Should I stop taking it.
Thank you in advance. Please help me

There are multiple different options, you don't have to stick with something that is making you miserable.

However you can't just stop the progesterone without having an alternative lined up.

A short term emergency break with just estrogen is usually safe for up to 3 months but beyond this you start to increase your risk of endometrial cancer.

Why not look into some of the synthetic progestin options either oral or the mirena IUS, or alternatively you could take tibolone which is essentially a 3 in one - estrogenic, androgenic and progestogenic actions and often tolerated where progesterone hasn't been.

Thank you so much for replying.
I think I’m going to take a break from it after this cycle. Hopefully by then I’ll have seen my doctor.
