I increased my HRT dose from evorel 50 up to 75 back in December and two months on I’ve started experiencing pelvic floor spasms which are causing me a lot of discomfort and stress. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
The research I’ve done suggests they’re fairly common when oestrogen levels are declining but not that common when oestrogen is increased.
Just wondering if I’m alone in this and it might ease either with time or if I reduce the dose back down (here’s hoping!!)

Hi! It can be Trial and Error with HRT - what were your periods up to in the last couple of years? Why did U opt to try replacement, which symptom would you like to ease first?
It mayB that 75 is too much if your own hormones are joining in. Have U thought to add 75 a few nights a week, i.e. 50 for 3 then 75 for 1 etc.?
Browse round. Make. notes ;-)

I am unable to see how the increased dose of estrogen in itself could directly cause this.
Have you had a corresponding increase in your progestogen dose? This can cause issues like bloating, ligament laxity and constipation which are more likely than estrogen to be causing your pelvic spasms.
Alternatively are the larger patches sticking as well or has the brand changed? A smaller sized patch can stay on better whereas when you are wearing something close to the size of an A4 piece of paper (I am exaggerating but you get the point) it can be more likely to come away around the edges, resulting in a lower dose than you think.
Or it may simply be a coincidence and not related to your hormone therapy.

Thank you for your kind replies. I’d jumped to the patches being a possible cause because that’s been the main change but thinking about it now I’ll explore other things and hopefully sort myself out soon
