Anyone experienced this please? On and off burning stretching type pain around gallbladder area past few years. Past couple months pain constant and more severe. Often around to back. Nausea. Bloods all OK. Numerous scans say gallbladder normal. I'm having another scan which I'm paying for this weekend. I'm convinced it's gallbladder but so far nothing has shown up. I've had Cts mris mrcp and ultrasound. I'd be grateful for any advice please.

It could be IBS.
I know that is usually felt on the left side but it can happen on the right. Certainly does with me.
Otherwise could it be muscular. Do you do anything repetitive that could cause pain.

Morning. From what I understand and the NHS website confirms, is that gallbladder pain is sudden and very severe.
Abdominal pain (biliary colic)
Gallstones can cause sudden, severe abdominal pain that usually lasts 1 to 5 hours, although it can sometimes last just a few minutes.
The pain can be felt:
in the centre of your abdomen (tummy)
just under the ribs on your right-hand side – it may spread from here to your side or shoulder blade
The pain is constant and isn't relieved by going to the toilet, passing wind or being sick.
It's sometimes triggered by eating fatty foods, but may happen at any time of day and may wake you up during the night.
Biliary colic doesn't happen often. After an episode of pain, it may be several weeks or months before you have another episode.
Some people also have periods where they sweat excessively and feel sick or vomit.
When gallstones cause episodes of biliary colic, it's known as uncomplicated gallstone disease.

I've had IBS for years++. Resulting in the 1990s as slow bowel transit: nowt for a few days, then a rush of pellet-like poo or ....... fortunately I haven't suffered pains with it other than an occasional 'nip'.
3 years ago DH and I altered our diet: I could no longer digest croissants, scones - in fact anything with hidden fats/sugars. In November I cut out muesli and milk and in general, my bowel habits are better.
MayB write down everything that you eat/drink for 3-5 days to find out if there are triggers. Keep well hydrated: pee should be straw coloured.

Thanks CLKD. I'll try that. Keeping a diary. Good idea. The pain is constant mildish, say 4 out of 10 but if I eat the wrong thing the pain shoots up to say 8 out of 10 before gradually decreasing. But it's always there. I've scheduled a private MRI. Hopefully for this weekend do hoping that will reveal the cause.
I did see that on the NHS website but I'll read again.

Thanks for replying Aprilflower. I don't think it's muscular. It doesn't feel like it anyway. I'm going to keep pursuing the cause even if it skints me because I have to go private. I just can't put up with this all of the time. Plus it's causing me quite a bit of anxiety.
IBS? I'm not sure. Something I'll have to look in to.

Could it be food intolerance related? As CLKD says, keep a food diary covering everything you eat or drink along with a note about the level of discomfort.
This should help you rule things in/out if it is an intolerance.
An IBS diagnosis is usually given when everything else has been ruled out. It's a catch-all term for we have no idea ::)

I think the gallbladder can sometimes play up without gallstones. Do you have IBS or bile acid malabsorption?
