Hi ladies.
Just after some advice about night sweats my hrt doesnt seem to help so after 5yrs of patches gels +sprays and the usual side effects i finally stopped about 3 weeks ago.
Im ok so far but the night sweats are back i ve just started soya milk +at age 58 wonder if i can stay off hrt as the migraines were getting more frequent.any advice appreciated.

Hi R the sweats the worst symptom? I believe that there are anti-depressants which may ease hot flushes.
Be aware that sometimes soya milk upsets the bowels ;-).

Hi,thanks for the warning about soya milk it does seem to be laxative if i drink too much.
hve just been offered a Nhs meno clinic appt in March after 16 month wait so wil see if theres any new options as im only sleeping four hours and need more. Its heat and night sweats worst symptoms.

Im in a similar position
If I come off HRT the night sweats come back, if I stay on it-even on the lowest dosage, it makes my migraines worse and makes me constantly anxious.
I can’t take magnesium, any vitamins and can’t take any depressants or any other meds (I’ve tried them all)

Hi Lola
There are a few different drugs the GP can prescribe , neither worked for me ( but they do for others ) and I can’t take HRT because of previous Cancer. I am taking Fezolinetant ( veoza ). This is a new drug that has been approved by NICE but is not yet on the NHS ( it’s going through the processes at the moment. It does not contain any hormones but is purely for night sweats / hot flushes , none of the other benefits of HRT. You have to get it privately and it’s about £200 for a 3 month supply. I have found it very beneficial.
Good luck
Claire

Hi RuralRach, I’m not on HRT and have night sweats, they seem to come and go though. I have started doing 5 minutes box breathing (breath in, hold for 4 seconds, breath out hold 4 seconds - you can Google for better explanation! ) in bed, it may just be my imagination but it really seems to lessen the night sweats and the severity. I have noticed the difference when I haven’t done it, maybe worth a try.
