Title: Synarel and HRT
Post by: BoingBoing on February 01, 2025, 07:03:30 PM
Hi all

Just wondering how much HRT people take alongside Synarel.

I’m taking it prior to total hysterectomy due to endo and adeno.

My gynaecologist has prescribed 2 x pumps of oestrogel and 2 x 100 utrogestan everyday.

Is this what others are on?

also, does anyone take testosterone on it?

My HRT regime used to include testosterone but not sure I should continue it having started Synarel.

Thanks in advance  :)

There's no medical reason not to take testosterone whilst shut down with synarel.

2 pumps of estrogen gel is quite a low dose, whether this is adequate depends on a number of factors eg symptom control but also your age and how long you expect to wait for the surgery.

Thanks for reply.

I’ve been told 9-12 months wait for surgery and I’m 45.  I was already on 2 pumps, 100 utro and testosterone.  I imagine as the Synarel kicks in my oestrogel dose may increase.  Was a bit surprised though to have been prescribed increase in utro and to take it continuously minds

When you are shutting down your cycle with synarel in order to help manage endometriosis, there's no point then trying to recreate an artificial menstrual cycle by taking sequential progesterone.

You want to be on a decent dose of progesterone continuously to keep the endometriosis under control.
