Title: Hysteroscopy after ablation
Post by: Bunny lady on January 29, 2025, 08:21:14 PM
Hi everyone just updating that I am having my hysteroscopy under a general anaesthetic on Friday. After a failed hysteroscopy It was discovered that I have scar tissue post ablation 12 years ago which I had no idea could happen. At my ultrasound they saw a polyp and thickened womb lining, after I had some spotting.  So I will be waiting to hear about what they see and what the results will be of the biopsy. So stressed out by this right now.

Thinking of you, Bunnylady. At least you're having a GA which which is the far better option, often. I know it's easy to say, but hard to do, but stressing and worrying won't change whatever is going on. Its common, we all do it when we go through certain health problems, but you're getting the appropriate attention quickly, which is good.
Wishing you all the best for tomorrow and going forward.

Update: all done. They were able to access my womb and get what they needed. The surgeon was lovely and said that it all looked ok just a bit irregular due to the scar tissue. She was not overly concerned and I should have results in about two weeks. Hopefully all ok but it’s done. Thankful for painkillers right now. Thank you for all your lovely comments x

Bunny lady, that's reassuring news for you. Keep taking those painkillers  and hopefully you'll have a good nights sleep tonight.  Keeping fingers crossed for you but it sounds positive. Let us know the result x

So pleased to hear you had your procedure Bunny lady. I’m having the same under a GA on the 20th Feb, for polyp removal. Can I ask if the hospital provided you with painkillers or are you just taking paracetamol? I’ve not had a GA before so slightly nervous about that too! xx

Caz,although my GA wasn't for the same procedure as yours, it was a hysteroscopy,  it was a doddle so try not to worry. I was pretty uneasy because I hadn't had a GA before. The waiting around does make it worse but my husband was allowed to wait and a couple of other ladies had someone with them because they were very anxious so if you can, insist you need someone there if you need to.
The staff in the theatre were really kind and I made sure the anaesthetist knew I hadn't had GA before. So he chatted away while a canula was inserted and then told me he was putting the anaesthetic in, put an oxygen mask on me, told me to count backwards from 10 and then a nurse was telling me to wake up! She gave me a drink and 2 paracetamol because I had mild cramps and that was it. Tbh it was almost pleasant because I'm usually doing so much for others it was quite nice to be taken care of.
They didn't send me home with any meds but my pain was gone by then
I hope that helps a little. I still try and figure out how I was there one minute and then what seemed like the next second coming round. I do hope everything goes well for you. Once you're out the other side, you'll wonder what you were worried about. But do let them know if you're nervous, they really are so kind.

Thank you MrsMitch 💕 hearing your experience has really put my mind at ease and I’ll be sure to let them know that I haven’t had a GA before. I’ll also ask if my husband can sit with me whilst I’m waiting, that’s a good tip. I know what you mean when you say that you do a lot for others! xx

Hi Caz24 apologies for the delay in response. They didn’t send me home with painkillers I just used Cocodomol and ibuprofen. I was signed off for 2 weeks which seems a lot but I have been a bit sore so resting. I have not heard anything yet so still waiting for results. My notes said that I have scarring post ablation and my womb is atrophic is appearance - they say they will write re results. But anxious waiting but resting up.
The GA was fine and they looked after me well. Let us know how you get on xx

Thanks Bunny lady
I wouldn’t mind being signed off for 2 weeks! Just make the most of it and I hope you get your results soon. The waiting is awful, I felt the same after my endometrial biopsy, but I’m sure all will be fine for you.
I’ll update on here after I’ve had my procedure, thanks for your reassurance about the GA xx
