Well had my appointment this morning to remove polyp and get a sample of the womb lining after some spotting in October ( I switched to gepretix). The scan showed womb lining of 10mm and a suspected polyp and simple cyst. The gynaecologist was lovely but when she found out I had had an ablation 12 years ago she warned me that scar tissue could make it tricky.
As it turned out I coped with gas and air and codeine beforehand - the worst bit was the speculum to be honest but she could not get through the scar tissue and was worried about possibly rupturing uterus so I will have to have a GA. It means more waiting which is stressful. She did try to reassure me saying that 98% of patients are fine but it is still meaning another wait which is always hard. Hoping that reducing my oestrogen will reduce the lining. Now to curl up with a cuppa and a heat pad - oh and ibuprofen

At least she seems to be aware of possible risks. However, you should have been offered a total GA in the first place!

Think if they’d known they would have plus I didn’t know the risks of scar tissue after an ablation. I think that that ablation scar tissue has probably impacted how the lining has grown as it know it can come back and I’ve been on HRT for 3 years now and had the issue before. So we shall see what the outcome is after the GA - guess I now know. Thank you everyone this group has been so helpful and reassuring.

I could save the NHS £MK ! if women were offered a GA initially for this procedure several appts could be offered to others ::)

I think there really should be more awareness that endometrial ablation can make investigation of any subsequent bleeding extremely difficult.
I'm glad you have a good consultant and hopefully you won't wait long.

I don’t remember being warned of any complications when I had this done all those years ago! Hopefully they’ll be able to find out what they need under general anaesthetic. I may need to rethink HRT options if it’s going to impact womb lining like this.

Hi CLKD I’m doing ok a bit sore and crampy but ok. Just waiting now for the next appointment and hopefully I will get good news.
