Title: Chest pains - anxiety, HRT or something else?
Post by: Kai_63 on January 12, 2025, 10:08:06 AM
I've been having very mild pain/straining near my heart on and off for a few weeks. It feels like someone pushing down on my heart with their finger and it was tender when my doctor examined me. It got worse a couple of days ago. I ended up having an ECG and blood tests but they've ruled out heart issues.

The doctors say it's most likely muscular but I haven't done any exercise for three weeks due to Xmas stuff and it doesn't seem to be linked to anything particular I'm doing. Painkillers didn't particularly help.

I have perimenopause and even though I'm on HRT (oestrogel and utrogestan), I have bad anxiety due to some life things going on. Could the pain be related to that? It's pretty constant but very mild most of the time.

I'm late 40s, underactive thyroid (I take meds and am monitored) and my Dad had a silent heart attack at 60 so they were more cautious as a result.

Morning.  Do U have indigestion/heart burn?

Have u suffered a cold/cough recently?

How often are you taking pain relief?

No we ruled out heart burn (I don't get it anyway). I did have a cold a week ago but this has been going on for weeks so they didn't think it was that.

Painkillers (ibrupofen and paracetamol at the same time) yesterday.

Hi...
In my experience anxiety and chest pain went hand in hand....it took time and the right relaxing methods to aliviate it...
But it went eventually and o ly flares up now during very high stress.  :)

I've just found out my sibling had chest pains with anxiety and a similar inflammation in the chest so I do think it makes sense.

Guess it then becomes a case of managing the anxiety to keep the pain under control in turn.

Do U sing?  Humans on the whole don't breath correctly but singing or playing a wind instrument will help.
