Was put on gel & utrogestan for days 1-25, am 54 and periods sometimes regular (like 4 months in a row) but then can go 4 months with nothing at all. Gel seemed to vanish the hot flushes instantly and I'm sleeping like a log too. Only just finishing first 25 days of utrogestan & had an 8 day very heavy period at start of December. Do I just have three days off and imagine I'm back on day 1 again after that? And does that mean I will get another bleed or not, travelling over those few days so need to be prepared. Had a few hot flushes break through this last week too so think my body is probably winding up to another period, but I can't imagine 3 days break will give it enough time iyswim.

The instructions to "take it day 15-26" or "day 1-25" is based on the idea that women all have a 28 day menstrual cycle.
That isn't even the majority of premenopausal women, let alone someone in late perimenopause.
The best thing you can do, if you don't want a more potent progestin that can get rid of bleeding altogether, is modify the 25 days regimen to every day apart from when you get a period.
Then have a break whilst you bleed, & restart.
There's really no point counting 25/28 if that's not when you are bleeding.
Or you could just take it continuously.
You might get some irregular bleeding but it sounds like that's the case anyway.
