Title: Sleep deprivation caused by palpitations
Post by: Recreate23 on December 05, 2024, 08:21:01 AM
Hi again, since I stopped taking HRT 3 weeks ago, my palpitations during the night have worsened.  As I’m on the rapid pathway to investigate the result of 8.5 cm for the thickness of my womb lining, I’m at a loss about how to ease this problem so I can get some sleep.  I can’t take herbal remedies until it’s clear I don’t have cancer and I’m also asthmatic so can’t take propranolol.  I’m thinking about taking L-Theanine  - have any of you tried this and found it to be effective? Thanks!

Do ring the dept and ask when the appt is likely to be.  R U able to go to the Dept at short notice if someone cancels?

I can't understand why 1 has to stop medications unless and appt is actually given because weeks could go by!!!  I believe that your symptoms may be caused by low oestrogen, hopefully some1 will be alone with advice.

Hi
I hope you’re okay?
I’ve recently had to cut my oestrogen down as it was giving me severe palpitations. It helped for a bit but the palpitations are back and I’m at a loss of how to sleep.
I’m thinking of trying cbd gummies?

I upped my magnesium glycinate last week to 200mg at night and 100mg in the morning which has improved my sleep. Calm tea also helps if you drink it about an hour before bed. Other than this promethazine - an old class antihistamine - is my bullet proof way to sleep a good 8-9 hrs but you'd need a GP to prescribe.

Do they have any reason to suspect cancer such as a lumpy lining? If not personally I'd carry on with the hrt though perhaps with a reduced dose as the majority of investigations turn out to be nothing. How post meno are you? If you're still peri it can naturally be 16mm before a bleed.

Thank you all for your comments - I upped the magnesium tablets to 200 mg on Thursday but have been suffering from stomach pains and diarrhoea 😞 So my menopause specialist and GP advised me to stop taking them - the GP has prescribed mirtazapine antidepressants which are a sedative  - they contain antihistamines though which can decrease oestrogen so not sure if they’ll work.

Really sorry the magnesium did not help :(

I took mirtazipine in my 20s when I wasn't sleeping well and they knocked me out every night so hopefully this will work.

Thanks K45 - yes they’re certainly knocking me out too! A full night’s sleep at last!

Feel a bit drowsy during the day but hopefully this will get better - how long did you take mirtazapine for and did you find it helpful?

Glad to hear you're sleeping well - makes such a difference! I was on it for about a year and found it helped mainly with getting my sleep pattern back. The morning fuzzy head went after about a month and I remember that strangely the lower dose 15mg was more sedating than 30mg. It was much easier to come off it compared to venlafaxine.
