Title: Can I really use Vagifem everyday?

Hello,

I am having problems with VA. Don't currently take HRT due to problems with progesterone.

I have been taking Vagifem for about 6 months. Every time I stop taking it daily and go down to twice weekly the discomfort returns. I have started using Ovestin daily as well for the past month or so. I have been taking Vagifem every day now for about a month. Also use YES moisturiser and wash.

Is this too much oestrogen without progesterone? I've seen a lot of people saying they take it everyday but I am a bit worried!

(I am about to try Femoston but not too hopeful about it)

Its perfectly safe to use Vagifem daily, it doesn't reach the womb, therefore no need for progesterone.
I use both Vagifem, Estriol cream plus a moisturiser daily.

1 can certainly use VA treatment every night.  Plus 1 extra in the afternoon if symptoms niggle and 2 Nurofen to ease the nip as the urine flow shuts off.

Thank you both. Can I just check that your GP knows about this and doesn't mind? Am seeing GP tomorrow and am going to fess up! Can we do this long term, even if we can't take progesterone?

Vagifem once prescribed is for life otherwise symptoms will quickly return if not treated.
I was prescribed daily use four years ago, the treatment is so safe that it can be bought over the counter.

My advice to you is to search this forum for Vaginal Atrophy, it will be an education well worth knowing.

There is a book written by a Member of the Forum : Me and My Menopausal Vagina : U may be able to get a copy from Amazon.  A good read then pass it to the Surgery ;-)

Your GP/Nurse Practitioner may be resistant so push your point that here at MM, we know best ........ Dr Newson is trying to get the information leaflet updated.

I'm on the gel and utrogestan pills is it okay to vagifem along with these? I was given it for atrophy...

Yep.  I don't need systemic replacement but use VA treatment regularly.  Some find that they require both to ease symptoms. 

whattheheck - get it up there every night for 2-3 weeks !
